IB and incremental increase in Margins

A first time poster trading for 6 years. Working for who exactly? Might not be but the one post advert or supplier attack has been classic shill territory in the past. I expect we shall see in the next post. :)

Trade after work -- Trade HSI

No learner, I used to wonder about that (I have traded HSI for the last 3 years) but its not that. SPI for example is a 1 point index (and STW is 0.1 points) and both trade in an orderly manner. Also, HSI doesn't have substantially less daily volume than SPI or STW (obviously much less than...

Trade after work -- Trade HSI

And for those considering the hsi ... let me illustrate on a 1 tick chart (IB ticks). You should at least be aware of what you're trading not deceived :) Here's a sample of some modest and not quite so modest tick gaps today. The v number is the volume and the other number is the last 3...

Trade after work -- Trade HSI

LMAO ... If you call us "non-hsi traders" I'll be a little plainer. You are a bullshit artist. One who speaks complete crap!

Trade after work -- Trade HSI

There are 3 other things worth looking at in the same timeframe. Nikkei (N225, N225M ini, and SGXNK) Taiwan (STW) Oz (SPI) All are much more orderly than HSI and open earlier than HSI. I've recently moved to these three after HSI became a little sino-psychotic.

You may want to consult a psychiatrist about this distorted love you're feeling.

dropping IB like a bad habit.....so lets consider the alternatives

No Ninja doesn't change the data. Funny thing is that fast markets is where IB is best (vs anything but very expensive feeds) because there is no lag in the data. You might consider combining a data supplier (open say) with IB. With SierraChart you can mix data and execution suppliers (in...

Trade US Dollar Index on IB?

You don't want to. Its a "basket index" and is very thin. Trade the actual pairs that real people exchange currencies in: eur-usd usd-jpy eur-jpy gbp-usd aud-usd gbp-eur etc to get valid movements rather than some mathematical construct.

Position Size and Market Volatility - Trend Traders

That simply means that you can't set it based on extreme low volatilities or you will be scaling off as it wins (or loses).

Position Size and Market Volatility - Trend Traders

You missunderstand. High volatility is increased risk.

    TWS--right click menu disappears

AAA30, Nearly there an neatly illustrates the problem ... do you mean the latest TWS standalone (878.?) or the latest TWS browser (879.?) But obviously, kudos for the very helpful suggestion :)

    TWS--right click menu disappears

You need to define latest (just the number will do) and its also useful to say what java revision you are using.

With IB commissions on SPI STW SGXNK and HSI are all under 1 tick round trip.

Quantplus can't move to another broker ... because he's not with IB now. He may never have been.

Is it possible to change server of the IB TWS?

Its not one server adx. There is a server farm with sophisticated coms gear to direct your logon, data queries, orders etc to the appropriate point (so when u request HK homed data you'll see that your query is actually answered from HK not the US). Unfortunately such sophistication...

Is IB's data stream down again?

Herry, You've been a whinging wanker from your first few posts - and thick with it. Associating zen with you is very disrespectful to zen so I apologize without reservation to zen. The same would be true of any association between tortoise and zen.

What market data service do you guys use?

IB data is fine and IB charting is probably good enough for what you're doing. You might consider using TWS (browser or standalone) as its IB's preferred platform for order entry and management.

Is IB's data stream down again?

Mine is working fine and has been all day :) Zen Question: What is the sound of one wanker whinging?
