I don't trade the US markets but have always sort out the trendy periods of the markets I do trade. I do find that if my market starts with too much of a shock I am best to walk away until that shock is absorbed.

I use Sierra Chart with IB data and have found the refresh to be very reliable. On the rare occurances where it didnt refresh you can delete the last few ticks of old data with SC and it will force a rerefresh which (over the last 6 months) has worked every time for both US and Asian Servers...
