    ES Journal Archive (2006 - 2008)

Big Hog -- Sorry to be a knucklehead here, but I see the second bar opened at 1429. +6 makes 1430.50, etc. Also, even if the first tick was 1427.50, +6 makes 1429. Sorry, again, if I'm being incredibly obtuse. Thanks, in advance, for your patience!

Possible to become a success with 5k?

no limits to what you can achieve with 5k....or 1k, for that matter. the only limits are those you impose on yourself. sounds like a fotune cookie homily, sure, but it's true. fwiw, i know someone who traded $1200 into a fortune. i should add that he did this only after blowing out...

    Retail version of TT

Question: Why on earth does anyone pay $600 a month (or more) for a freakin' DOM. I mean, c'mon, folks. Methinks the emperor is butt-naked.

There seems to be very few Big Indepentdent Traders.....

Why are you looking to others for your inspiration? Here's the straight dope: Compounding your own measly stash to a nine or ten figure sum is about as doable as, say, flying a Cessna across the Atlantic. Of course, as you'll recall, those odds didn't stop Lindbergh.

    Coiled Markets - Opinions?

I signed up back when it was $1000. I'm not sorry I did it, exactly. He seems like a nice enough guy. But the thing I really learned was the futility of trying to learn to trade from a home study course. Bottom line: You can't.

    How much is "good"?

What an idiotic question. I feel like an idiot asking it. But, surely, I'm not the only one who hasn't an idea what the answer might be -- other than one grounded in nothing but his own ungrounded speculation. I've been trading the ES full time now for all of -- oh, gee, must be going on...

    Ehlers' Fractal Moving Average (FRAMA)

Ah! Thank you! Your clue just prompted me to reinspect the actual formula. The period "n" must be an even number. Thanks again!

    Ehlers' Fractal Moving Average (FRAMA)

Hey, thanks. I do have the code. I'm puzzled by its tendancies, that's all. For example, the way it can be smoother at some smaller lengths than some larger ones. I say "some" because this is not consistently true across all values -- i.e., 10 may be smoother than 14, but 11 considerably...

    Ehlers' Fractal Moving Average (FRAMA)

Hi -- Does anyone have any experience with this indicator? Please PM me if you're willing to discuss: I've some questions about the way it "acts." Thanks!

    R:R 1:1

Hey Maverick, thanks for this. I'm not sure I'm following, however. In fact -- sorry -- I've just read this a fourth time and I'm afraid I don't understand. Would you mind spelling it out for a complete idiot (i.e., me)? Thanks again.

    RSI 90+ on DIA

I meant any other banded momentum oscillator -- such as stochastics, %R, etc. In others words, "Brand X."

    RSI 90+ on DIA

I'd like to know more. Would you care to elaborate? What, in your view, sets RSI apart from "Banded Momentum Oscillator B"?

    RSI 90+ on DIA

I was being glib. No disrespect intended, either to Mr. Wilder, or to those thousands of accomplished traders who find so much utility in RSI and its ilk. Personally, I find price-based "lower-pane" indicators -- i.e., other than support/resistance, moving averages, etc. -- to be of limited...
