Two Questions For Practicing Day Traders

I think what he wants is to watch you trade live. You know, like watching over your shoulder as it were.

Why Is The Obvious Not So Obvious?

Hindsight analysis is no fun for sure. But you also know that the first candle on the left side was at one time the last candle on the right side of the screen. Nothing's new under the sun around here.

WHAT IS A SECOND ENTRY ?

Getting back to the context of second entry, what is the differentiating factor that will give you a higher probability setup? That's right, MOMENTUM. You want the momentum to support you from below. Without it, it will more often than not just fizzle out. That's why first entries almost always...

Why Is The Obvious Not So Obvious?

Let's just say that you're reacting to the past in order to predict the future. You're a smart guy. I'm sure you'll figure it out in no time. :)

    Is the crypto winter over?

This chart doesn't look very good to me.

We're in the process of cooking up IHS, so sez @volente_00.

Shorting an index future against an ETF on the same index will earn the risk free rate?

No. Shorting ES and buying SPY won't give you free money. No. When the ETF rises in price, you'll end up losing money. And trust me, SPY is up 5% already today. That's more than 4.56% for 10 yr note.

The S&P will top at 4540-4601

Yeah, I was thinking we might be reversing at 4350 ES today. As I'm writing, it's trading at 4390. :wtf: At this stage, 4440 is the likely target. Not sure where will be in 3 months though. Need to reevaluate as things unfold.

WHAT IS A SECOND ENTRY ?

Here's the complete playlist of all the videos mentioned on Al Brooks (on the top right corner of the screen it reads 1/14 -- or 1st of the 14 videos). I think it's a good primer for Al's materials, especially for anyone who follows price action. But the real meat is with the market psychology...

Why Is The Obvious Not So Obvious?

Take a look at the following chart with the "low risk" in mind. 1. A breakout from the previous S/R. Should you jump in long? What's the R/R? 2. A retest back to S/R. Should you jump in long? What's the R/R? 3. Another retest (but look at it closely). Should you jump in long? What's the R/R...

Algos watch Patterns, Trendlines, Channels, Support and Resistance

As I've said in my earlier post, they are all "largely a variant (and subvariant) of one of these (four) classes." Pattern recognition algos? Depending on what pattern you're talking about, it can be neatly fit into either trend or mean-reversion algo (or a variant of those two). Probabilities...

Algos watch Patterns, Trendlines, Channels, Support and Resistance

There are essentially only 4 types of algo. Everything else is largely a variant (and subvariant) of one of these classes. Now whether any of these algos watch Patterns, Trendlines, Channels, and/or Support and Resistance (or not) is debatable. Trend-following algorithms: These algorithms...

Why Is The Obvious Not So Obvious?

What, you want me to give you a crystal ball? :D Anyway, here's a RTH chart of 5 minute ES. Where do you believe is a low risk entry for long (or short)?

    What was your "a-ha!" moment?

Aloha! As a simple trader, I treat cycle as a very simple concept. It's whatever that repeats after a certain duration. For instance, the 4 seasons comprise a cycle. We all know that they come and go after 3 months with spring coming before summer and summer before fall and fall before winter...

WHAT IS A SECOND ENTRY ?

Nah, there's no need to thank me. Hopefully this will get you to the moon faster. Going back to the subject of 2nd entry, don't try to outguess what the market might do but what the herd next to you might do, namely, what traps they will certainly fall into.

Why Is The Obvious Not So Obvious?

Low risk entry = Good risk-reward and high-probability win. Don't you think? But then again, just what does "low risk entry" mean exactly? Perhaps that's where the obvious lies. Maybe it's so obvious that nobody cares to even look there. (This is giving me head cramps already :))
