So whatever happened to the recession we were supposed to have in 2019?

You believe in a lot of crap, we get it. Federal deficits, urban decay, insurance premiums, crime rates; those are objective realities that don't lie. If things are so grand in the US, you wouldn't struggle so much as a nation to deal with these issues. Canada's not perfect but quality of life...

So whatever happened to the recession we were supposed to have in 2019?

I don't have any pain no matter who is US President. I'm a Toronto home owner; most of my family is in IT consulting and Toronto is #1 in growth in that area on the continent. There is some evidence that a portion of the growth is because Trump has made things difficult for some to do business...

So whatever happened to the recession we were supposed to have in 2019?

You just seem out of touch with the reality that Trump is going to lose the election completely on merit and it seems highly unlikely he can come back from the disaster that his Presidency first term. You also seem confused about the connection between the President and stock market performance...

    Warren 2020

TreeFrog is ignorant and not worth the effort. This thread also clearly shows he's never had any decent relationships with the women in his life.

Gotta love ZERO RISK in the SP500 = $$$

It was very possible to miss some of the 2018 correction and get back long well before the rally starting December 24th. Didn't require great timing at all to do very well on broad markets. In addition, numerous quality stocks have been essentially range bound or better since January 2018.

    Trudeau must resign immediately

TreeFrog and similar Americans would have heavily supported Bernier and Scheer in the election. The Canadian public totally rejected Bernier and his Trump like immigration ideas; he didn't even win his seat. The Conservatives lost a winnable election largely because Scheer was viewed as an...

    Trudeau must resign immediately

You don't need a majority to form a government. What you need is enough individual MP support ( which can be influenced heavily by your party ) to pass whatever policies or laws you want. And if a vote of non-confidence occurs, you get another election in maybe 1-3 years not 4.

    Trudeau must resign immediately

I don't think they understand that what "conservatives" in the US believe in and what the "Conservative" party in Canada stands for are two completely different things.

    The S&P 500 topped at 3017.8

Fact is though that in 2017 and 2018, US listed corporations posted huge increases in profits that fully justified index levels and many on here refused to acknowledge that. Basically, indexes often rise in anticipation of future changes in earnings, so one could argue that the anticipation in...

    Trudeau must resign immediately

I'm not impressed with Trudeau but Scheer is a far less attractive option, and I think ultimately they lost the election because of their choice of leader. For those of us who care about performance, a minority government may be ideal to send a message to both parties to get their act together...

    The S&P 500 topped at 3017.8

You're clueless, trying to pretend that corporate buybacks are not real transactions. I've noted this about you in the past, you get confused when real life and data contradicts your various conspiracy theories about stock markets.

    Trudeau must resign immediately

And yet Toronto is a far more successful and livable city with even better prospects then almost anywhere in the US. And most importantly we educate most of our young people to be far more capable, compassionate, productive members of society then you could ever be. Basically the only purpose...

    Trudeau must resign immediately

Certainly it would have been more fitting if he was mayor of a dump like Tampa Bay. Such is politics, you guys elected Trump a fascist who hates on women and promotes racist policies and themes. Ford was relatively harmless; Trump is an extreme sociopath doing very real damage to all sorts of...

    Trudeau must resign immediately

Liberals aren't a "lefty" party, dumb ass. Again, some of you Americans can't seem to understand we don't have the "left vs right" bs that you are obsessed about.

I don't think you've made a cent on your SPY trades in 8 months. Which makes you no better off then the people you are calling "silly".

Canadian Economy outperforming US on almost every relative metric.

It's a free world you are free to operate as you wish the point is this is not how the vast majority of Canadians view their country. The school aspect is just a fact we have a good public school system that feeds into a affordable, quality university system ( or colleges for trades etc ).

Canadian Economy outperforming US on almost every relative metric.

Personal tax rates ( net of various credits ) have been slowly dropping for 20 years now. They peaked in the 1980s and most of the 1990s when Canada had to pay down the federal debt which went to something like 110-120% of the GDP. Coincidentally, the US is at the exact same spot we were in in...

Canadian Economy outperforming US on almost every relative metric.

Canada has closer ties to the UK and in some areas France then the US. You really are clueless about how Canadians view Americans, especially ignorant ones like you. We may do a lot of business with the US because of geography, but culturally and socially the European links and growing Asian...

Canadian Economy outperforming US on almost every relative metric.

You are hardly Canadian then. Most of us would never make this statement and are glad we are different then the US in some very important ways. I see two types of people in Toronto; one group are long term residents and people who love this country. Two, some proportion of recent immigrants are...

    Trudeau must resign immediately

Trump's popularity in Canada was measured at 13%, and it's likely gone down from that level since. Almost nobody in Canada likes Trump or even respects him as a human being. If we are going to talk about credibility, Scheer has done more to hurt his chances then Trudeau has. Scheer lied about...
