Different trading styles. I like to buy stuff that's going up. I'll never get the bottom and I'll never sell at the top. If I buy as it drops then I'll just have to sell when it goes lower as my rule is not to hold losing positions in my portfolio. The problem with buying and holding on to a...

OK I won't. You'll be fine with your guns and ammo and your make believe money. With any luck we won't have to deal with SHTF and I'll be able to enjoy the beauty of my tulip garden. Still don't think it's time to make my first buy in Bitcoin as it's still trending down.

Do you pay attention to slippage?

8% seems like a good number if that's your historical number. It seems high to me as I'm looking at basis points.

Do you pay attention to slippage?

Slippage to me is the difference between my stop price and where I get filled. No slippage on buy orders as they are limit orders, although I may get filled for less in some cases.

And a country boy can survive. (Where's overnight). I'm not against guns. Farm raised, I can hunt, butcher and cut my own meat, grow my own veggies, and could get along quite nicely without power if I had to. Have you really figured out how you would survive when the SHTF?

Can anyone point me to a place / room where people actively trade?

Years ago we used skype. Probably better stuff out there now. 4 like minded traders day trading ES, watching the same chart trying to figure out what it was telling us. General bull shit between set-ups (lifestyles, politics, weather etc). Was a pleasant way to spend the day although I don't...

I have to agree. You can only be a participant in the market, there's no way you can control it.

That's the thing. You have to have something of value to haggle with. I might be able to trade my tulips for something, not so much a digital non fungible token.

I'm not so sure. After seeing protests turn into riots and how helpless authorities are against large crowds it's not out of the realm of possibility. Is a cyber attack that shuts down the power grid for a couple days, followed by riots and looting, really that much of a stretch?

In the US the 2 dollar bill is rare but you can buy 2 bucks worth of shit with it. Rarity is the basis of the greater fool theory. You have to find someone willing to buy or accept your coin for it to have any value. At least with a tulip bulb I could grow a tulip. :)

Is this sell off only the beginning ?

Yes I got shook out of a few but kept buying stocks that were going up. Now have financials and energy instead of tech

Is this sell off only the beginning ?

That's where I'm at. I want to be in the market but I don't want to suffer the drawdowns. Solution is to sell stocks that aren't trending.

Is this sell off only the beginning ?

Very true but you have to have cash to take advantage of those opportunities. I often wonder where the buy and hold crowd gets its cash to buy when the price drops. As a speculator without any other income, I only have cash after I sell something.
