    Silver/SLV

Here's a time stamped snapshot of precious metals on this Sunday night.

    Silver/SLV

I was trying to show some decorum with "crazy stuff" at the end, instead of LOL.

    Silver/SLV

I was listening to Peter Schiff last night, and apparently a major problem could occur with the silver futures holders who refuse to close out their contracts, and demand delivery. There's not enough silver in the world to deliver on these contracts, so the banks who are the most vunerable...

I cant make trading work for me

It sounds like you're jumpy, so maybe consider trading straight long call or long put options. Keep it simple. You get leverage (control 1,000's of shares) for a small amount of outlay. Just make sure they're heavily traded so you can exit at will, and the bid/ask spread is tight. If you don't...

Time to invest in gold... if so what vehicle?

I too, am strictly on the TSX now. However my only three holdings (no longer day trade) are listed on both the TSX and the NYSE. Two of the three are, Barrick and Newmont (one, two in gold miners). Because of the dollar exchange, the price fluctuations are more prevanlent on the TSX. And I...

    More newbee option questions

If I knew of a stock that was jumping from $50 to $70, I would immediately check out the option's present vol, historical vol (30 day and annual) and the market's VIX. This will tell you whether the option's are cheap, or not. I like to play, which I still do occasionally, the short side, puts...

I played TWTR on the short side today...

I wouldn't be a bit surprised if tech stocks took a major, major beating Monday or Tuesday. Companies are formed to grow and make money, not to shrink and lose money. Right now I'm in the safety of gold, but if I see a chance to short these big effers, I will.

I played TWTR on the short side today...

I went over to Parler a few months ago. At first it felt strange, but got used to it and like it.

If you had only 1 hour to look at a financial statement, what would you glance at?

Debt, cash flow, and is the company a serial stock issuer. What does it do with its earnings?

Why are gold stocks with strong fundamentals dropping?

    Very interesting.

Why are gold stocks with strong fundamentals dropping?

I have Barrick Gold and Newmont Mining stocks, two precious metal companies with solid fundamentals. However their stock prices just keep going south, along with the U.S. $. Plus with all the stimulus injected into the economy, (inflation) nothing. I know Warren Buffet bought into Barrick this...

Anyone else hit the burnout point with trading?

Been there too. Started out as a passive value investor in 2005, and did really well. Lost my day job in 2013, and started day trading, and had a mix of winning and losing years. In 2017, fatigue was setting in so I started to cut back, and picked up a hobby, 3D modelling (open source...

    What is Quantitative Easing?

The Fed keeps printing money (massive QE) and the $ will collapse. Currencies that maintained some semblance of capitalism will move back to the gold standard. When will the $ collapse? That I don't know, but I'm betting less than a year. I'm in Canada, which is doing the same thing...

    Trading Options on Breakouts?

OTM calls or puts (keep cost down), with liquidity, vol in the neighborhood with 30 day historical, delta around 25 to 30 with decent gamma. Go a few months out to combat theta, last 30 days is a killer. Cheers!

how to take advantage of the low oil price?

Look for a crude oil company that has lots of cash and not levered to the teeth. Shale is in big trouble. Saudi's and Russian's are going to eliminate U.S. shale. Time is on their side, not ours. Too much debt is going to sink shale oil. Don't get sucked into options with way too high vol, but...

Losing money on puts when stock goes down

What was the vol at when you bought? The VIX is up around 50 now, and way too high to buy. Always buy low vol, sell high vol. Can't stress that enough.

options - open interest volume and pricing impact

Your example has happened to me (on very tight spreads originally), and I find it doesn't matter how large the OI is. It will usually spring back to a more "normal" spread within a day or so, at the most. That being said, I still want an OI of a least 10,000 with a nice tight spread of < .05...

Did Your Local Newspaper Show This Picture?

I think there are democrats on this thread that want the title, president, changed to saint when one of their own is in the oval office. …Saint Obama?…:thumbsdown:
