Prudent Risk Management Is The Only True Edge In TRADING

Would disagree. There aren't opportunities every day, you may think there are, but probably a matter of seeing what you want to see. I only need a few times of going all in 150% to make a fortune. Would rather take 1 hit wonders* every now and then, screw consistency. * i suppose they...

Why has the turtle trend-following system stop working?

Whilst working with Richard Dennis, the most successful turtle was Curtis Faith. Richard Dennis said so in an interview. Long term trend following has lousy metrics (e.g. sharpe ratios, sortino ratio, calmar ratio, Schwager's Pain/Gain ratio). Paltry returns and huge drawdowns. Read Curtis...

Why has the turtle trend-following system stop working?

People can save time and money by reading the way of the turtle by curtis faith. Probably less than $10 on amazon. Written by the most successful turtle, it explains in great detail everything about the turtle method of trading. One point that is very clear is that you can't trade full futures...

Why has the turtle trend-following system stop working?

What is the most common investors mistake?

You can define investment and trading how you like. Vic Sperandeo defines trading as positions intended to be kept intraday to days, speculation as days to weeks and investment as weeks to months/years.

Why has the turtle trend-following system stop working?

I haven't listened to your chris clarke interview (who?), but if he says that high drawdown is useful, he must be a moron. How is losing 50%+ of your money ever useful? Perhaps he meant to say it is inevitable when long term trend following!

Why has the turtle trend-following system stop working?

Why go through all the huge effort of long term trend trading if all you are going to achieve is sub s&p500 performance with identical drawdowns? Can you explain this?

Why has the turtle trend-following system stop working?

If Warren Buffett has a 50%+ drawdown, no change in lifestyle. For most other people, a 50%+ drawdown could mean a serious problem. The other problem with long term trend following is that the returns are not much for all that drawdown. Very similar to buying and holding the S&P500 (i don't...

Paying for a mentor vs. Elite Trader Forum

50 is a minimum if the markets followed a normal distribution. Since we know they don't, we think they follow a fatter tailed distribution than normal, we need more than 50. The 1800 number was suggested by William Eckhardt in an interview.

Why has the turtle trend-following system stop working?

since you are the self appointed guru of turtle trading, why don't you explain why the turtle system works/doesn't work and why there are so many 50%+ drawdowns?

What is the most common investors mistake?

Cutting your losses (or more specifically, WHERE to cut your loss) is the one and only rule of the markets.
