Private Buffett lunch goes to highest bidder for over $3 million

Seems quite overpriced given that Buffett himself has said that all that needs to be written about his strategy has already been written

Incredible resilience in US equity indices. The asset premium compression induced by CBs just gained a new leg. I'm not sure how to respond to that other than to add some hedges. Currently I got a small short on SPY, long durations in UST bonds (with a good chunk in the 30y) plus my gold position

Out of fed futures trade. Jobs plus non-manuf ISM to me seals the deal for just 1 hike this year. At best

Anyone experience in foreign trading in IB account?

"IB will charge a special handling fee of 1% of the deposit amount (minimum $50 fee) for any physical currency deposits." They will take it buts its a huge red flag that a client wants this. More likely they will close your account if you go down this road

What it feels like is that the Fed doesn't have a framework to raise rates. They are doing on the job training. The idea for the first hike was 'we do it now to avoid doing it even more later'. Then markets tanked, the framework became 'we can only raise rates when we see the white in the eyes...

"Most participants judged that IF incoming data were consistent with economic growth picking up in the second quarter, labor market conditions continuing to strengthen, and inflation making progress toward the Committee's 2 percent objective, then it LIKELY would be appropriate for the Committee...

Even though I'm short end of the curve bear, I view this minutes with skepticism. Its hard for the Fed to hike without the Fed futures markets pricing in a 70%+ chance. For that it would take a Yellen speech where she says they are going to move. But its hard to her to say that without more data...

Filling a W8-benE, FFI or NFFE?

Jim Cramer doesn’t beat the market

Yes, but one would think at some point the public outrage would be big enough that he would be fired. I mean, now there is a movie starring George Clooney and Julia Roberts where he is exposed as the charlatan that he is

    Best practices for trading income

Your best option is to consult with a tax attorney and explore the possibility of moving to Puerto Rico. There you will be able to earn tax free capital gains. You might have to live there 6-7 months a year and the rest in other places but it has to be done in a way that is consistent with how...

The Holy Grail of unleashing the top producers

Nitro, this would be a good proposal IF were to be implemented with a reduction in other welfare programs. If it was simply another addition to the menu of support programs, its likely to lead to dependency on the state by the poor and perverse outcomes The idea of universal basic income (UBI)...

Jim Cramer doesn’t beat the market

The fact that he can't beat the market isn't much of a surprise. The surprise is why he is still getting artime and subscription payments even though he has already been exposed several times

Made $1.15 million in 18 months, lost $1 million in 12 months, will I ever be good at trading?

Be brutally honest with yourself and do an analysis of what happened. Figure out what worked and what didn't

    Citadel, KCG and Robinhood

This distinction does not matter in a risk averse framework where the trader decreases exposure to third parties (whether be it dark pools or internalizers) in situations where a 'leak' or law breaking behavior will hurt him (when he has a big order, is in a hurry to liquidate or the stock is...

    Citadel, KCG and Robinhood

As a matter of fact, the more smart traders use things like commission free trading/internalized orders the more toxic that order flow will become. Thats a good way to 'get back' at them
