For all the heck I give ICFed and Airwaves about only going long ES with no stops, I'm going out on a limb here with you, OW: Do not short the CL. Only buy the CL. Just buy it and set a target 3 points higher. No stops. Just buy it. It's designed to only go up :p :p :p

    Working on Consistent Profitability

When I first started trading, I did a lot of swing trading via options and did quite well. You have limited fixed risk and potentially large reward. Day trading is a LOT of work. It's a real full-time job that I would guess is sometimes like being an air traffic controller in terms of...

Hard to resist that oily stuff :D I like how your smallest win was twice your biggest loss. Hard to go broke with that kind of R:R. ES is rather stuck here. So much good news, it can't sell off, so much uncertainty, it can't rally hard. Sitting right around the old trend line and the...

    CL Redux

Sorry I couldn't help, I was actually trading in this final half hour, something I rarely do, but such a clean long setup for a test of the high, couldn't "resist" :p Picaso, why are you getting in so late? Jump in the pool early, when it's scarier, and you won't have so many b/e's! :D

The LL indicator! I forgot all about that! And yes I think a short here with emg's target + 4 ticks or so is valid :p

There's too much easy money to the long side today to ONLY sell! Not us! We need our at least our first 10 cups of coffee to win! We are over-caffeinated oil traders!

And 10 pts move to the short side from your initial announcement. You are truly the Holy Grail of ES trading

    CL Redux

I'd take a bow if I'd actually bought that last dip. I'm now suffering from "too high to buy" disease

BCE, there is no overhead resistance. I repeat, no overhead resistance! Your target after it broke that HOD is $147 :p :p

    CL Redux

!!! Initial target is HOD, it's a magnet! Gotta love this trend!

    CL Redux

Yes in at 11:29 eastern, out at 11:31. I guess I should be thankful I got my 8 ticks out of it  It was such a great setup, too, 2nd HL and break thru the 20 EMA, "always" takes price through the previous pivot low. Except when it doesn't...

    CL Redux

TZ, I don't post trades much because I close everything other than my 4 time frames of charts and my DOM to avoid distraction. If price action is calm, I may sometimes call trades, or if I see a to-die-for setup like that failed final flag yesterday. I posted a series of trades a while back...

    CL Redux

Tell me, WTF was so "dippity-do-buy-me-right-this-minute-or-never-see-this-bargain-price-again" about 103.32? :p ADD: Hmmm, looking at it here, maybe that IS the bargain price from now on out and we should go all in and target $108. I'm stepping away from my desk for a few...

    CL Redux

Explanation, please: I was short .56 and price fell off my DOM, then I moved to lock in 20 ticks, expecting momentum through the previous pivot low and price flew back up and slipped me 12 ticks :( Why did price fly back up like that??? I have a need to know

Schiz, I don't think you quite got through to me just how far to let those winners run

    Experienced Traders' Bloopers

That's the point of this thread. No matter how experienced, we make mistakes, and I think it's defeating for beginners to think that experienced traders are perfect and never take losses or make mistakes. It's important not to allow mistakes to sabotage the rest of a trading day/week/month...

    Experienced Traders' Bloopers

Oh, it IS an edge, as long as you're not chasing the momentum inside and near the top of a pullback channel :p

    Experienced Traders' Bloopers

I remember believing for the longest time that certain traders must be superhuman to produce those big fat P/L’s you often see or hear about. They obviously had obtained the Holy Grail and had the Trader’s Mindset so fully mastered that every trade, whether winner or loser, was executed...

    Working on Consistent Profitability

You need to find a trading instrument that fits your comfort level. Basic entries on CL trades often require 20 tick stops. Carefully calculated entries can allow for smaller stops, but you need a lot of experience and screen time to learn how to trade that way. The good news is, either way you...
