I am a US citizen but plan to live in Europe and travel around for a few years.

And if you mean to live within SCHENGEN-AREA you`re required to register with local (sometimes police) authorities and yout stay per countries is (without proper permits) restricted to 3 month per year.

What is the maximum percentage that Emini SP contract has moved in a wek?

Being a NRA (non-resident-alien) with poor language command and vanishing cognitive abilities I would consider a timespan of 7 days a week and max weekly move not a synonym of max weekly loss. Being also an option writer "weekly" and " max move" are very meaningful trigger words for me.

Nobody here (besides me) who remembers 1987?

IB: accounts in two different countries?

As far as I know, the world of banking and brokerage has changed dramatically: No "shielded accounts" anymore, only ONE account per customer (all others are subaccounts), within EU area (and UK) central registration of all accounts for fiscal and governmental reasons, globally once per year...

IB: accounts in two different countries?

You are aware that IB-UK (all european accounts) won`t allow you to trade most US ETFs due to ESMA regulations? I won`t talk to IB about EU citizenship.

Their gain is a commission - IB might be unknown to you - they are not a spreadbetting bucket shop. Your firm won`t charge commissons. So where is your gain without violating your customers interest?

    Broker suggestions for EU citizen

Interactive Brokers working against their clients? Yes there are some pseudo (cfd) brokers - caveat emptor. But there is also lots of lovely fake news by US brokers on this topic. Reasons to trade CFDs (if you`re allowed to)? Leverage, scaling, .... lots of other reasons. Horses for courses.

Non-US Stock/ETF brokers available to Americans?

Due to IRS agreements with most foreign countries (FATCA) opening an account with offshore brokers and banks is not easy. Brokers under ESMA regulation are not permitted to sell US basket products to their customers.

Non-US Stock/ETF brokers available to Americans?

If by any chance you are US citizen or US resident --- you will have problems to find a foreign broker or bank -- FATCA. If your broker (like internaxx) resides in EU or UK ---- they won`t be allowed to offer you US ETFs.

    Broker suggestions for EU citizen

With any EU (incl UK) based firm you will nit be able to trade ETFs, just plain vanilla stocks. And aside of IBUK (and theit introducing brokers Captrader, Lynx etc) no one will offer you RegT margin. So you should consider swiss cfd brokers like IGbank Switzerland.

Well Saxobank are not easy to work with. PDT rule only applies for trades at US brokers.

    Broker suggestions for EU citizen

If you intend to trade US markets: With binck -like IB UK- you can`t trade any US ETFs, you can trade options on those, but no credit spreads available. So remains Saxobank (Switzerland only) or Swissquote. But best option I would consider Tastyworks.
