    Short against the trend?

well, being a Stan Weinstein student, and also a reader of Bill O'Neil, it has been pounded into my small brain that the overall trend is hard to fight. however, it is frustrating to see JBLU decline after I actually told myself that "hey, JBLU looks like a good short" weeks later, I was...

    Short against the trend?

Curious how many of you short even tho the overall market is up? A few stocks came across my radar screen that said "short me" but I did not, since the SP 500 and NAS were both still "long" condition. I subsequently missed some good trades. JBLU, IACI, PNRA some examples thoughts?

trade stocks but interested in FOREX

Hello I am a individual investor that trades stocks using a trend following strategy, fortunately with fairly good success. I am unable to sit at the computer all day, due to my "real job", and typically hold stocks 1 to 3 months, and buy and short as the trend dictates. My broker is...

    Yahoo Group

I just created a new Yahoo Group, dedicated to "breakout" plays of small cap stocks priced $1 to $5. I use 50/200 SMA cross and volume analysis to help me with my picks. It is free to view and join if interested. Thanks! Bill http://groups.yahoo.com/group/basebreakouts/

    OBV or CMF?

What does the audience use and why? On Balance Volume (or) Chaikin Money Flow In Murphy's TA books, he only mentions OBV, no mention of CMF. In Pring's book, CMF is lightly touched on. In my own testing, CMF appears to be a potentially powerful secondary tool to help confirm...

    BB to NAS/NYSE question

I have a question regarding how a stock gets re-listed from Bulletin Board to the major exchanges, how, why, requirements, etc I am looking at UALAQ (United Airlines) and it is currently BB. If this airline actually does recover I would speculate that the stock should continue to rise. If...

    VectorVest

Anyone use this and care to share their comments? It appears to be a trend following software that may be just as easily be duplicated using standard TA tools, specifically MA's and MACD, without having to buy the software comments?

50/125 SMA cross for low-priced stocks

yes I agree with the slot machine example, no argument however, if we come across stocks meeting the above criteria, and say place Buy Stop - Market orders higher than say their recent highs, as an added "filter" to confirm trend, is this not somewhat of a sound methodology?

50/125 SMA cross for low-priced stocks

Wanted to share this and ask the audience for insight/comments: I screened on Yahoo Finance for the top % gainers for the last 12 months, and various stocks returned such as NTES, DCEL, SOHU, MICC, etc. I "profiled" these and found that (out of the top 100 gainers) - A 50/125 SMA cross...

    SP 500 listing requirements?

What are the SP 500 listing requirements? More specifically, AMR (American Airlines), which traded at $1 back in March, was removed from the SP 500 index at some point in the past. What does it need to get re-listed in that index? Will any such re-listing enhance the "buyability" of the...
