A question for Maverick74 (ACD related)

I know the thread is long, just read it. There are no short cuts in this business. You can probably get 95% of it from the first 10% of the thread, say 200 pages. Also, ACD is not a "system", it's a methodology. There is a difference. If I can take the time to write the thread, you can take...

Don, are you OK? Let us know how you are doing.

    The ACD Method

Number lines are the most often misunderstood aspect of the ACD system. Do a search for number lines on this thread and you should get a lot of info. I find very few people using them correctly and they are probably the best part of the ACD system.

OK, these are two completely different questions. The levels you use for actual trading and the levels you use for your number lines. For your number lines, use the pit open hours. I use the shorter number lines for momentum. They complement the longer term ones when they reach extremes.

The OR didn't go anywhere. You can't remove the OR. You need it to derive your A values. You just have understand we live in 24 hour markets now. So you have to focus on the slice of the trading day that you want to trade. I'm pretty sure Mark still puts out his data.

    Oil $20 longer term ?

Make sure you do the currency conversion for that spread. And be careful if you have to take delivery. I learned that one the hard way.:) But lots of opportunity!

Most of the gold in the world is traded on the LME (London Metals Exchange) and yes, that means using London hours. I suspect the best time to trade gold is also 2am to 7am. And again, I would use an OR based on when I traded it.

About crude oil: contrary to popular belief, oil is not a US product. The volume in the physical market dwarfs the futures in magnitude. A large majority of oil is traded in London and Switzerland and now Singapore. The volume numbers you see on NYMEX are not a good indication of when oil is...

    The ACD Method

It really depends on when you are going to trade these products. Most of them trade 24/7 so you need to create your OR around the times YOU are going to trade them. In terms of how wide, I prefer to use 5 min vs 45 min.

    Oil $20 longer term ?

http://www.cockeyed.com/science/gallon/liquid.html I'm sure most of you have seen this graphic before but I think this highlights just how cheap and undervalued a gallon of gasoline is vs other liquids. Especially when think of how important gasoline and oil in general is to our economy and...

    Oil $20 longer term ?

My best guess is oil sees $250 before $20. Oil is an inflationary risk asset. Unless you believe that we are headed down a deflationary spiral, no way oil can get that cheap. I don't know if hyperinflation will ever become a reality, but if it does, $250 will be just the beginning.

Hitman - Best ET Journal of All Time!

He came back to ET about a month ago. Out of no where. I responded to him but no response. BTW, I don't recall him getting a group. He had a couple of guys trade with him and he posted their p&l as well. The guy was a true basket case. BTW, who are you? I traded there from 2000 to 2002.

Russel 2000 might start to crack because of fiscal cliff

I would sell the nasdaq. I've been trading for over 16 years. And if you want to stay in this business and have any chance of longevity you will learn to master the art of relative value. The nasdaq is much weaker then the Russell. That could change tomorrow, but right now the nasdaq can't even...

My number lines are telling me not to even think about shorting this market. They have been firmly bid all month now.

Russel 2000 might start to crack because of fiscal cliff

Why not sell the nasdaq instead? It's drastically under performing.

The RUT and SPX are right at the QTR A up. The Dow blew through it and the NDX is no where near it. Translation: If you want to fade this rally, fade the NDX!!!!

Russel 2000 might start to crack because of fiscal cliff

The RUT is up 7% since this call. Closed at new all time high today. Why do you guys insist on fighting the trend?

King,King, King. Are you trying to use logic on stocks when we've had long term interest rates at zero with equity markets near all time highs?

Fading Yen - It has gone parabolic

So why not go long from 90 to 94. I never understood this kind of analysis. If one wants to scale from 90 to 94, why wait. If you believe price is going there, get long now.
