Hence the phrase, "Lies, damned lies, and statistics". BTW BLS releases revisions to their previous "estimates" all the time, sometimes even more than twice, eg. "revised up", "revised down". By the time they get appropriately revised, it becomes totally useless, at least for us traders.

Well, I can't comment on what exactly happened in the 70s but I've experienced both 2000 and 2008 crashes. They were both characterized by "This time it's DIFFERENT!" Yeah, right. Excuse me, but did you say "no 2 crashes are the same"? Yes, they're the same. Only thing that changes are the lame...

Actually Sierra no longer supports Excel. However, they do provide their own built-in spreadsheet. I've used it and it works pretty well.
