Yeah, my trade plan doesn't work well in tight ranges so I keep a couple of other instruments at the ready.

Actually the ATR sucked in the Fall of 2016 through much of 2017....had to switch to the NQ which had plenty of action but is a slippery devil.

I use them and have for many years but not as signals themselves. 9ema, 30wma and 90wma across three time frames. There are no two identical trade plans and you have to discover what works for YOU and not what conforms to ET opinions.

I too like to teach, a problem I have with teaching trading is despite one's best effort, there is a good chance the student will still fail. I don't care to be part of that.

Once you start to teach someone, it dawns on you how much complexity there is in what now appears "simple". Which is why I like to avoid teaching people how to trade :D

Learning to trade and learning to behave as a trader require a lot of time and effort. Once you've done this (and most don't get this far), trading becomes relatively easy. Sure, you'll have to make technical adjustment along the way as the markets change moods but intensive, focused efforts...

There are two things that must be mastered to trade for a living: 1- Taking the time and effort to learn how to trade. 2- Developing the strict discipline, focus, courage and patience to do so. Failures are not due to TA but violations of the above.
