    A 70k bet that I can't make a 50% gain in 2009

That's what I like about breakout trades (break thru HOD or LOD), when they work they work quickly so you can safely use a small stop. I've found them to be the easiest trades.

Sounds like once the spread became absurdly wide things hung in suspended animation for a moment and the Offer finally won the battle.

    Hey kid... Trade or Fade?

This is good to know. I opened time&sales a couple times in the past but really couldn't decipher much out of it. But Thursday all my bid/ask levels were locked and so time&sales would've been very helpful. Thanks for that! And as I recall everything was hugely gapped up the next morning...

CF & TNH vs the others

That is my main focus actually. I bought IRR Thursday and it not only survived the crash beautifully (and came within .10 cents of my limit order for the second half of a position), it pays a 9% dividend, and my position is green :D

Taking 410K to 4million by Year End 2010

Hi Walt, It's not about how I trade the ES; it's about how I trade anything. I've told the story here a few times of how I'd never traded anything but stocks and my son was about to demo trade forex with a friend. He saw price had made a huge run up and wanted to sell short because "now it...

    Hey kid... Trade or Fade?

One of my trading roomies bought at $200 and sold at $218, I think it was just 16 seconds later.

Taking 410K to 4million by Year End 2010

My trading platform froze the bid/ask prices during the crash, so I had no idea where price was on anything until I looked at the charts, and then my stock charts flatlined, and all I had that was actually reflecting (sur)reality was my futures charts on another PC and a different charting...

Taking 410K to 4million by Year End 2010

I've laid out on this site exactly how I trade in painstaking detail. I posted my ugly messy journey in getting to where I am now. I've often posted my trading blotters and my charts with entries and exits and reasons so anyone can look at a chart and compare what I did to all the detail I've...

You're welcome! Nothing was more helpful to me than watching Greg Capra and Oliver Velez a few times on-line trading live and talking about what they were doing and why. I saw successful trades, trades that were exited early because of certain price action, and how tight you can place stops when...

Yes :) My platforms were acting strangely at the open. One was out of sync with the other and I was afraid to trade after yesterday's action caused my DOM to lock up. I decided the open was just too volatile after yesterday and I took the dog to the park. (I gave everyone here immediate...

    Predictions for Monday? (May 10th)

The depth of the dip it took to find buyers yesterday changed the game IMHO. Before it was buy the dip and buyers came in strong with very little backwash. Yesterday wasn't a dip; it was nasty price action. No one wants to be the greater fool now. If anything, that 1060 level will have a...

For a long time I had no idea why anyone would want to trade ES. Then things changed. I guess this is what is meant by "markets change". Borrowed Schiz' balls at the end, there :D

    CL Redux

Early breakouts can be very good. Nothing like stops from both sides of the fence triggering to drive price to a new high/low. Works well until the 3rd one, then I start to look for reversal signals.

(me too, and it's unlike anything I've ever experienced in ES; ok watching CL now, looks like some life in it...)

Seems like the days of the 4-6 tick stops I was used to are gone. I'm only trading 2 lots today. My last trade was a scalp in that narrow range and I still pulled off 6 pts! I remember when a 6 pt move took forever and might well have been close to the day's range

Because over the past year I've had IB it's been very easy and reliable for trading futures and inexpensive for day trading small positions on stocks. Also I'm subject to intertia. Once I get in the groove of using a tool regularly, it takes a lot to get me to change. Also, I really wasn't...

My IB was in and out of sync with my poweretrade this morning, so I took a break rather than trade, especially after yesterday's freeze up. When I came back everything seemed fine.

I'm glad to see that others believe this. I thought I was in some kind of loony camp for thinking Jack Hershey has provided some incredible keys to the trading kingdom here on ET, both technically and psychologically. Realize that I've read Alan Farley and Al Brooks, so I'm used to...
