Trading The Same Stock Every Single Day

AMZN has a decent spread so if a stop is hit, you sometimes get slippage with even 200 shares. Limit orders are fine, but getting into a trade during a momentum move can leave you chasing entry after a partial fill. Any more, I trade mainly crude oil, similar P/L results with 1 lot and almost...

Trading The Same Stock Every Single Day

I found 600 shares or more can be troublesome. I trade moves from pivot to pivot, looking to catch a strong move or possible a strong trend. But if a move is small before retracing, slippage on a stop being hit is annoying on more than 400 shares. On the other hand 400 shares usually produces...

Trading The Same Stock Every Single Day

For a long time I traded POT almost every day. Definitely gives you an edge, trading the same thing all the time. Once I defined my prime setups with POT and tested them in sim for a while, my win:loss ratio since I went live is something like 8:1. I also traded AAPL a lot (until its price went...

    Passage to $1 Million

I don't understand why so many people believe you can't make consistent profits patiently waiting for high probability setups and trading them with risk management in place, especially when trading just one or two things that you've become very familiar with. It's not only possible, it's...

Well, we're within .15 of each other on the break, not bad considering I was using an IB daily chart for the level. I see your 75.00 and 73.00 targets, too. All the best on this one, looks good!

When price reaches 76.70 you will move your stop to b/e.

    Addiction, Overtrading, and Patience

I've an idea: You trade for the highs, then send me your weekly profits and I will then obtain for you... That way, you get high every week without being bothered by those pesky profits!

Will you post a trading blotter each day? You know, so we can reverse engineer your strategies and take away your edge... (Sorry, the mean people got to me, damn!) :p Best of luck to you!

I don't even want to know the damn numbers and whether they're bearish or bullish. The bearishness or bullishness of the last few reports have created a bias and kept me out of some very nice trades because it's going up, up, up on bearish news (or vice versa) and I keep waiting for a reversal...

On a swing trade like this, do you leave your initial stop in place or move it to b/e since the price has moved over a point in your favor?

I'm curious why you didn't place a stop below the reversal bar on this trade, since it was counter-trend.

Not sure, but it seems like a good possibility if a news release went out to that effect. You rarely see that many up bars in a row for no reason.

LMAO, oil inventory survey showing supplies down was published in error. Please disregard, info outdated... Hmmm...short at will?

    is trend following really profitable?

Wait for a reversal signal and enter the new trend. Take profit on part of the position when each new high or low in the trend stalls, and recharge your position on the pullback. If trading only 1 lot, then you can learn to time the trend and take profits when the new high or low stalls...

I agree, they sure do. I've been cross-referencing a one-minute chart for entry points anyhow and that seems to smooth everything out.

OK, gotcha. I figured it was chart creepage on my part because my chart (QuoteTracker 5-min) appears to be a few ticks off in all respects when compared to the charts of other traders I'm in touch with. The break of 1106 was definitely an early long signal off my 1-min chart, with entry...

What was the significance of the break of 1106 for an entry signal? 1106 is the low of my 15:50 bar.

    A 70k bet that I can't make a 50% gain in 2009

That looked like a great setup, too. And because I haven't visited for so long, I would like to say, for the record, "F/U POT!"

Ask yourself why you thought it was better to go long at 1110.00. Was there an actual price action signal that indicated 1110.00 was a price at which to go long? I don't see one at any point in time today. When 1110.00 breaks down, price never even breaks back above it (until the very end of...
