You are right about that! And I always thought 3 red bars were followed by a green bar, until I left that 80+ ticks on the table this morning

Anyone have an Rx for "too low to short" disease???

    CL Redux

I was positioning myself short for the break, watched a 27-tick profit evaporate completely  Repositioned at a worse price, but got 21 ticks on that weenie breakout.

I always like leaving half of a 100-tick move for someone else

    Birth of a trader

I still sometimes take those trades, but I don't give them an inch; they either do or die!

    Birth of a trader

Frank, good to see you noticed the danger in taking counter-trend short signals too close to the 20 EMA. The 20 will usually act as a mobile S/R level in support of the prevailing trend, so when a counter-trend short signal appears, I'd be careful not to bite because the R:R becomes very poor...

Taking 410K to 4million by Year End 2010

Ha ha! My music is first on my project list, been putting it off waaaay too long. There are too many trading books and I believe Al Brooks said there's no money in it. :p

Shorting Apple with a target of $250

The reason AAPL keeps breaking out to new highs is because a lot more investors/traders want to buy it than want to sell it. EVERYONE who owns AAPL stock, even if they bought at its all-time high of $315 during regular market hours on Friday, was profitable by the time after-hours trading...

Any drug to help make u a better trader?

I traded POT for several months, ignoring warnings that although POT seems harmless enough it's actually a gateway trade. Sure enough, it led to trading oil futures and I now have the attention span of gnat. :D Seriously, Green tea, ginseng, and physical activity improve focus...

Taking 410K to 4million by Year End 2010

Even if you give away a virtual Holy Grail of trading, it's quite unlikely anyone will follow the plan anyway.

I've not seen a measured move calculated that way. Interesting how it worked so well.

Taking 410K to 4million by Year End 2010

SPEX being a penny stock, I'm sure your account could handle a failure. But look at ITMN, where a huge volume of "big money" bought into the gaps on 3/5 and 3/10 because they knew that 99.9% of the time when the majority of an FDA advisory panel recommends approval, the drug is approved by the...

    Weekly Poll: Any Shorts Left?

Outside of day trades and short term swing trades, why would a longer term swing trader be short? In terms of longer term swing trades, a strongly confirmed reversal to the long side was put in on 9/1 and there hasn't been a single short signal since then (other than intraday and short term...

Taking 410K to 4million by Year End 2010

Wow, that is one scary chart from the time you opened the trade. If it hadn't let you out at a profit on 10/7, I'm curious what level of loss would you have taken?

Record breaking Apple Price target now at $500!!!!

AAPL stock is the bargain of the century compared to BIDU, which is currently priced as if they're expected to announce a cure for cancer before year end.
