    Statistical Question

Even if you had a 6 month sim history with that win rate, I'd be worried. Your reasoning indicates that you believe you can successfully pick and choose trades in a game of odds, and the odds aren't in your favor. Just my 2 cents: Trading CL this way when you go live will take you apart.

Buyers and sellers are driving the price of the stocks.

    Hooti's Journey

I think what's important is that you adhere to your plan, which was to move stop to b/e after 2 pts in your favor. As a 5-min chart day trader, I also move my stop to b/e after 2 pts in my favor when trading ES. Nice thing about following that plan in your case is you're stopped out b/e and...

    Statistical Question

Am I reading this right - you're targeting X ticks profit and willing to risk 4X to achieve that? How many ticks are you targeting for a profit? Why would you do that on a trading instrument that provides many types of with-trend and channel trading setups throughout the day where a...

    Weinstein Trading and Fading

I've tried selling the stuff, but for some reason my massive trades just aren't pushing the price down! :p Great trading, and thanks for dinner!

    Birth of a trader

There is definitely slippage risk trading breakouts, even if trading only 1 lot, which is why it's more comfortable being positioned for them on a pullback. After a strong move in a given direction, watch the 1- or 3-min chart as a cross-reference, because often the pullback in a strong trend is...

Should I take the leap and quit my job to trade full-time?

This is exactly why people are so successful in sim and fail once they start trading live. Trading is a game of odds and once you start getting picky, you lose the edge.

    Birth of a trader

I went through this whole process, documented in my journal and via email with experienced traders and what I was told and found out is true: Either it's a valid setup or it's not. The fact that nearly 70% of your "doubtful" setups produced a profit and none produced a loss tells me they were...

Should I take the leap and quit my job to trade full-time?

Jinxu, if you're so consistently profitable, why are you still sim trading?

    Hooti's Journey

My ES chart shows a low of 1268.50 following your entry. Why not move stop to b/e at that point?

    CL Redux

I was that poor counter-trend "I don't need no stop" baby on many occasions and no one cared one bit that those big bad trend-following breakout traders took my candy :p

    CL Redux

Yes it was very strong. 70% of my trades were long with no losing long trades. 30% of my trades were short with a win, a loss and 2 scratches. That pretty much sums up what would be expected looking at the day's chart.

    CL Redux

There were some very nice breakouts today and I traded almost all of them, and managed to stay focused enough to get positioned for every one of them on a pullback  I think my ADD is officially cured!

    Favorite stocks to daytrade

Since AAPL's been in an uptrend since March 2009, just broke out again on Jan 3rd and is now trading almost 6% higher than the breakout level (meaning if you bought that new high your position's up almost 6% in a week), you're failing to convince me that smart money is distributing AAPL shares...

Are US markets like oil, index, and commodity markets rigged

Once you learn to trade like a casino (following price with a risk smaller than the profit target on each trade), instead of like a gambler (forming an opinion about price being too high or too low and taking a position based on YOUR opinion), you'll be consistently profitable and won't care one...

Are US markets like oil, index, and commodity markets rigged

You are CLUELESS! Do you know what CLUELESS means? It means "having no clue whatsoever to help solve a mystery". The mystery for you is trading. Day traders do not move the market. There is plenty of volume without day traders. Institutional investors move the market. And why do you care...

    Protecting successful trading strategy

I've presented my trading strategies on a silver platter on ET and in individual one-on-one conversations with people and nobody will trade them. I guess human nature provides built-in protection :p

Are US markets like oil, index, and commodity markets rigged

The market is totally rigged...rigged to provide you with a daily profit if you do what the majority is doing! Who cares if it's Goldman Sachs, or JP Morgan, or hedge funds, or HFT bots, or a secret consortium of AARP grandparents, willing to bid up or offer down "the market" or "XYZ stock"...
