I don't think you're getting abuse. Traders with a lot of experience are informing you that there are ways to trade efficiently and safely and make as much as, or far more than, you currently do, without cementing in your young brain sets of beliefs that may destroy your capital at some point...

    Beliefs That Sabotage Traders

I believe that survivorship bias is one of the most sabotaging mindsets for traders. A diligent student of the markets is analyzing hard data every day, both his/her trades and all the valid setups that "could've been" and then extracting statical probabilities from the hard data, and defining...

The best thing that could happen to him would be to learn to trade technically with risk management, then hold the winners for 10-30 point moves the way he holds some of those losers till they come back. He's willing to hold a trade, but he's taking small profits and holding big losers. But...

The market was in a bull run when I first started trading and every trade was profitable no matter how much heat I took. Price always came back. Always. Until the bear market started and it didn't. I think IC trades a smaller version of the contract, so the end result might not be as damaging...

The train often backs up once to let the stragglers on board, but it rarely backs up twice :p

I'm guessing you're a newer trader, correct me if I'm wrong. The time and price you were tempted to go long was technically solid. Price broke through and stayed above the 20-day EMA in the overnight session, and if you weren't long earlier @ 1321.25 off the open, then you had a very nice narrow...

Thanks! Guess I should still be holding for that $103 target  Here's the Failed Final Flag setup (works just as well with a plain old failed final breakout): Price puts in a strong orderly trend, in this case lower highs and lower lows well beneath the falling 20-bar EMA. Normally...

Failed Final Flag trade - very visible on the 3-min chart. Calling it a day!

OK, I see, that was the earlier entry in that price zone. I was short almost same time @ .91 and I ended up out for a similar profit. But there was a re-entry short in that same price zone later on that just fell down the stairs. I thought you were referring to that, and there was no way...

Failed final flag!! Buy now, target 103.00! Sorry, can't resist. CL is just so kind to you if you follow the trend :)

Wait a minute! By the time it hit .70 it was off to the races. How on earth did you get out @ .70, with a limit order???

Sorry about that stop placement, guys. I didn't notice the pivot point @ .24 :D :D

Not yet, Kid. First gotta shake out the weak hands with a fbo below .37. Place your buy limit at .36 and pray for the fill. Place your protective stop @ .26 in case your prayer is answered by the devil :p

There's a freakin' bid at every level. Just plunk your buy limit orders at every previous bar low, screw pivot lows, every previous 5-min bar is bought up for at least a decent scalp! We can scalp our way to retirement today :p

This back-and-fill is making me crazy. I'm short a while ago, targeting 100.90, moves almost 40 tick in my favor and I lock in .20, takes me out for the .20, and I go grab a snack, come back to see price moved a couple ticks through my original target! I guess you hold for stop/target, or you...

    Birth of a trader

That was one of my biggest mistakes. I went from periods of no rick management to disaster-based risk management to tight risk management, to trying to avoid all losses risk management. The more I shifted away from that, the more money I ended up making, because I started trading every valid...

    Birth of a trader

I see. What's helpful is to define rules for moving stops. As you know CL's volatility took a leap recently because of all these over-caffeinated oil traders, so I personally changed my with-trend management to not move the stop until after 20 ticks in my favor (sometimes even that's too soon)...

    Birth of a trader

I went long @ 100.93, 1-min chart pullback entry as well, so I'm curious how you only got a tick out of that trade. The initial target zone on this trade was the previous high (101.30). I moved my stop to b/e after 20 ticks, but had no intention of getting out for less than the previous high...
