Biden's biggest fear: 'This president is going to try to steal this election'

Pot-Kettle! We got Obamacare ONLY because the Dems cheated their asses off to get Al Franken his Minnesota seat in Congress. The Dems lost to Trump in '16... Thought they had "cheated enough to win", but were wrong. You can bet your last shekel that the Dem's will have their cheat-machine in...

    Tesla Closing in on Toyota

Shouldn't be a surprise. Nikola is the world's largest truck maker... and hasn't sold even ONE Truck yet. (Won't until 2021)

Do 1256 gains require quarterly tax payments, assuming no other income

Correct... entirely different and removed from each other.

Do 1256 gains require quarterly tax payments, assuming no other income

Not exactly. You get to "maintain" status if you do enough of "qualifying business"/trading activity" to maintain. Personally, I think qualifying for Trader Status is much like the circle jerk of accounting for wash sales. Minimal financial benefit for waaayyy more hassle than it's worth, in...

Fed meeting today. Dovish dovish dovish dovish

I can see it now. Greenspan, Bernanke and Yellen.... drinking in a bar and celebrating, "Powell gets to take the blame for all of what we did"!!

Do 1256 gains require quarterly tax payments, assuming no other income

The IRS has guidelines about "continuing to quailfy, maintain" your trader status... don't know how or whether they bother to follow up. The regs specify "continuing to quality"... not "once granted, it's a one-and-done".

Do 1256 gains require quarterly tax payments, assuming no other income

I don't know whether you have a point on this or not. Interest payments are also reported EOY on 1099, yet IRS "presumes" you know about the interest income in real-time and are required to make estimated tax payments in a "timely fashion"... ie, quarterly. Years ago I ran a financial planning...

Do 1256 gains require quarterly tax payments, assuming no other income

There are requirements to qualify and ongoing requirements to maintain "trader status"... and you can't claim such status retroactively.... Logically, most who ask this question have yet to qualified as such, or they would already know. If that's the case, then their taxes get no special...

Do 1256 gains require quarterly tax payments, assuming no other income

Sounds like your explanation is for those who qualify for and maintain "trader status". We don't know that from OP. And speaking of "mofo"... you qualify for your unqualified presumption!!

Do 1256 gains require quarterly tax payments, assuming no other income

I didn't know there is a special exemption for 1256. (You sure about what you said?) As a general rule, the IRS wants tax estimates to be made as the gains are made... your posit is contrary to that.

Do 1256 gains require quarterly tax payments, assuming no other income

Not exactly... been through this myself several times. Background.... When I ran my mutual fund timing business, I always seemed to have my best results in the 4th quarter. However, the IRS "presumes" your total gains for the year were earned "evenly" throughout the year and quarterly...

Better than expected has a new meaning . Instead of down 90% only down 70% and stk pops 50%

"Better than expected"... Wall Street's biggest (?) manipulation? Say... Last year's earnings were $2/share. This year, consensus estimates are $1.50 (intentionally lowballed?). Then... when earnings are reported as "1.60/sh", market pops from celebration of "beating (lowered) estimates"...

White House Hassett: Expect 3.5 to 4 million jobs to be added to the economy in June

Market likely to JUMP... "Jobs coming back... economy recovering... WHOO-HOO". Likely won't mean as much as hoped. (Won't prevent market from "over-celebrating", however.)

Daily P&L goes up but excess liquidity goes down

I could be talking through my hat here, as I don't have to deal with this... but it could be the broker is adjusting your liquidity because of it's revising margin requirement due to volatility.
