The succinct answer as to why the turtle trend following system no longer 'works' is that the markets are always changing, but the system does not adapt to change. It will 'work' when the markets start following the turtle playbook again (when that happens is anyone's guess). Until that occurs...
Well done wwatson1 for making 100%+ in a year. Unfortunately, the base capital was £500, which tbh is not meaningful. No allocator is going to say, hey you made £500, 100% in a year, i'm gonna give you a million to trade.
The average professional footballer does not play in the Premier League. The average pro tennis player doesn't win grand slam tournaments. The average investor in anything probably loses money over time...the average hedge fund is probably the same. So who cares about the average?
