For some perspective on costs, dedicated hardware for feed handling will typically run anywhere from $5k to $50k a month, depending on details, number of venue feeds, etc. The tick game is not for the underfunded. And you really really need to understand the realities of what a "tick" means...

It's easy enough, really, if you have a fast enough news feed located in the right place (or suitable arrangement with news provider). Just filter on specific things you're looking for - SEC form numbers, keywords like "resigned", or whatever, generate the signal and hand it off to a super fast...

WTS is a "real" company. However, the reality is you are likely to lose all your initial money. That's just a fact of life, it's not a WTS thing, it's a "I wanna be a trader" thing. If that loss causes a pinch in lifestyle, it might be prudent to think this path through, thoroughly.

I understand. I'm curious as to the "why", as tick data is quite a bit messier than people tend to believe (or want to believe). Boxcaring, different re-orderings dependant on exchange load, etc, all kinds of crazy things going on in there. The further you get from colo, the worse it gets...

Why do you feel you need tick data?

No. And it never will be. But it is more even than it's ever been.
