    Are financial programmers under paid?

I thought the free market sets the clearing price for talent. Why is a discussion about whether a profession is underpaid or overpaid even meaningful?

Michael Jackson - cautionary tale on spending

Although documents indicate that Mr. Lee brought at least two risky investment opportunities to Mr. Jackson, Mr. Lee still managed to castigate the performer in court papers for a lack of financial discipline in 1999 and 2000. "Jackson became fixated on obtaining expensive possessions and...

Michael Jackson - cautionary tale on spending

John Branca, an attorney who structured the purchase for Mr. Jackson and represented him from 1980 to 1990 and periodically after 1993, said he saw no signs of wayward financial behavior in the years straddling the release of "Thriller." "I think Michael was brilliant for a good part of his...

Michael Jackson - cautionary tale on spending

Others close to Mr. Jackson say that the performer's finances have not deteriorated simply because he is a big spender. They say that until the early 1990's, he paid relatively close attention to his accounting and kept an eye on the cash that flowed through his business and creative ventures...

Price of an algorithm for automated trading.

There is an old saying about how on Wall Street, when a man with wisdom meets a man with money, the wise man leaves with the money and the rich man leaves with wisdom. No one is going to sell you the keys to the kingdom period. Your hopes and dreams are being preyed upon.

    Other Forms of Statistical Arbitrage

This is not what most people would term statistical arbitrage, which usually involves running some kind of balanced book. This is pattern trading. Nothing wrong with it, it's just a very different beast. Quite a few CTAs practice it.

    24 port Gigabit switches

Yes, I gather that the pricey switches are enterprise level, where buyers care mostly about centralized reporting and control over thousands of ports. Doesn't seem to make sense for someone who only needs 20 to 40 ports. Seems like any decent brand unmanaged switch is going to do the trick.

Am thinking of purchasing a 24 port switch and there is a whole range of prices for them. Is there a real difference or no? I'm just trying to clean up my network, which has grown into several small switches plugged into a load balancer.
