    Anyone using projectors?

I like the idea of pointing one at the ceiling and watching a movie while lying on my bed. I'd be surprised if they were suitable for trading though.

    Reiterate : buy the dip

You can use as many euphemisms as you like but you're predicting the direction of the market just as much as the people you criticise. No one claims to be able to predict an exact market top or bottom but are simply using their knowledge and experience to say it's more likely to go up or down...

    Reiterate : buy the dip

To react you have to predict, even with an open market. You know what the market has done but to trade you have to make a prediction about what it will do next. Your mind might be acting very quickly but you're still predicting whether the market is going up or down in the next minute, hour...

    Reiterate : buy the dip

You see, you do predict after all. Even today with the market going up and down all over the place, you saw the market act in a certain way and on the basis of that you made a prediction that it would go up or down and traded accordingly. I can't see why so many people on ET have to repeat...

How did your software hold up during fed announcment

IB was perfect today. Better than crap like DTN although if I was a heavy scalper I'd be using something like CQG.

And what do you see right now?

    IB intraday margin requirements changed.

I'm a more tolerant man than you. I will tolerate your stupidity and explain it to you. It is possible that price could spike dramatically intraday and force a liquidation of an IB client's position. The price could then stabilise and finish the day in what would have been a profitable...

    IB intraday margin requirements changed.

You need to learn to relax old man. It's possible that an intraday spike could take out a swing position that would not have been liquidated if the old margin requirements were in place. I agree with the poster saying it looks like they acted in haste. Why suddenly make the decision this...

    IB intraday margin requirements changed.

What if a client gets a margin call on a position they opened last week which they wouldn't have got if it wasn't for IB's new margin rules? What if that client makes a loss but if it hadn't been for the new margin rules they would have made a profit? IB needs to give more notice of these things...

    IB intraday margin requirements changed.

Is this move to protect IB or are they just acting as a "nanny broker" to protect its vulnerable little clients?

    Fed cut Monday or Tuesday

Don't some of you people even read the Fed statements? Turn off CNBC and do a bit of research. There is not a snowman's chance in hell that the fed will cut on Tuesday. Just read the last statement. To say they'll cut on Monday just shows such an amazing level of cluelessness that it's not even...

    The truth behind Wednesday's rally...

An interesting post, thanks for the info. What exactly is meant by "In covering, it is likely the crowd front ran the order, exaggerating the move"? I interpret that to mean that it became common knowledge that this position had to be covered so pit traders and others with that knowledge...

    big move coming eod today

I don't understand that reference at all. What does that mean in the bizarre semi-literate puretick lexicon? Did you used to squeeze the hose shut with your sister? What did it involve? Is it legal?

IB intraday bars and TWS time issue

I fixed the problem but can't delete the post sorry.

Time to go long again, S&P target=1572

Good observation in your chart. A sharp rejection of the lows (as happened yesterday) is often the start of a new rally.

Who thinks the market might go down tomorrow?

Some people are so obsessed with the idea that they should never try to predict market direction that they can't even join in a light-hearted chat on an internet forum without spewing their condescending abuse. Lighten up guys! No one is suggesting people should make trade decisions based on...

    AFter-Hours Futures Falling

These things happen every so often. It was just a little shakeout triggered by some local difficulties in Asia. If the US markets can open without a huge gap then that leaves a very long buying tail which may support the markets in the immediate future.

    AFter-Hours Futures Falling

It all started when Australia fell on bad news and continued when Asia started to tank. US futures followed them down. YM is down 1% too.
