    New option trader question

me too. I write puts sometimes if its a stock that I want to own - i.e. not a stock I want to daytrade, but one that i want to swing/position trade. BUT DON"T GO WITHIN 100 MILES OF AN OPTION CONTRACT IF YOU HAVE TO ASK SUCH A BASIC QUESTION ...even writing puts for a stock that you want...

    simple strategy....but very profitable

your reasoning doesn't apply to the old womans strategy. She picks a stock....and keeps it until it moves 10% in either direction....thus, every trade will be either a winner or a loser. The only way it will not be a winner or loser is if it never deviates 10%. My argument is if she used...

    brokerage house vs. trading firm?

Broker - you go to the pub hear a rumor call a bunch of clients get them to buy it....if it goes down you call them all up and say switch to this one.....and then when it goes up you call your clients and say switch to this one....the more volatile stocks the better as you switch em in and out...

Let us hear what's u'r BEST strategics?

Easiest way to make money is legal insider trading. The market is not transparent - if something materially fundamental is going on with the company it will not remain a closed secret. Joe CEO will show off to his doctor, Barry Romance will tell his lover, and Dodgy Director will set up an...

    simple strategy....but very profitable

Don - I thought Blairs guys and Timberhill were pretty much completely mechanical. Interesting that everyone put down the old woman...I threw it out to test the waters here. Magna - She wasn't putting all her money in to one stock at a time just had a 10% gain/loss strategy for each stock...

    TradeStation Securities announces new commissions

Good deal - but they are desperate for market share and quickly. If they have to clear through BS and Refco - that's a cost...plus they will have to cover ECN costs and execution costs....and ECNs are only cheap if you have the volume in the first place. They are going to need many customers...

    simple strategy....but very profitable

Article in a local publication today about a middle aged woman who has made a fortune .... and all she does is buy a stock and then sell it when it is either 10% up or down. So why not pick hi-probability patterns and a low commission discount broker and do the same.....hi-prob pattern only...
