im an experienced trader considering a move to atlanta for personal reasons...would to here what kind of trading community exists down there. what are the most prominent firms?

as far as i know neither echo nor dimension offer straight prop. they will leverage your money up, but thats about it. i could be mistaken. i have heard rbc is downsizing their prop model, but ddint know they were going to abandon it altogether. how were your numbers there?

they dont take deposits and they will give you plenty of overnight buying power if you have good track record. they usually start people at $2MM buying power and that can be employed however you want.

nobody heard of schonfeld, rbc prop, shottenfeld? they all offer roughly 50/50 split and let you hold size for as long as you like and dont take money up. just need good track record to get in.

I know a lot of brilliant people that could never make a dime trading, so I'm not sure if there is any correlation between success in this industry and intelligence (as traditionally defined).

They are issuing a statement tomorrow together with OFHEO at 9am, and the speculation is they will announce limits being raised - anyone hear this? Jumbo loans have been a major problem and drag to this real estate market, so perhaps the market will react very favorably? Any thoughts?

well its not cheap and the short trial wasn't enough to know if this is consistently good or if its worthless. if there are other similar services that people on here use and know is good, even if more expensive i would definitely be interested. just trying to make an educated decision...

you don't think dropping rates will help keep prices up? i would think in an area like nyc where there is always demand, it might even increase when interest rates are low. i bet prices in some high demand neighborhoods prices will barely fall near term, will take a while. real estate in...

anyone hear the rumors circulating about some fund blowing up today? would help account for some of the stocks getting murdered today (goog, fslr...). just checking if anyone else has heard about this or is it just the usual garbage?

i closed 70% before bell, but this other 30% gonna hurt. actually had some time to exit some of it immed after intc came out so its not too bad. its a small position and was worth the risk as the upside had more room than downside. i wouldnt be surprised to see the market fade back up...

this has been a nice move, now the question is do we hold for a possible gap up tomorrow or just take the money and run? im inclined to book half and hold half.
