    Portable solution for IB's TWS

Anything powerful enough to run Windows XP will do fine. I am using the Asus EEE PC 1000, which is excellent value.

Effective Monday, stocks with market cap under $100M will be non-marginable at IB

Haha, that's all you can argue? IB postponed implementation by one full day. Hey, at least something! :p

Nonsense. The Ultra ETFs are very useful, especially for those with no access to futures. But they are for traders, NOT holders.

Effective Monday, stocks with market cap under $100M will be non-marginable at IB

EXACTLY. It's nothing new that the government screws things up, that's what they always do. But IB should know better. They have been in this business for decades, it should be nothing new to them that market volatility sometimes gets extreme. That they suddenly realize small caps to be...

Why you should pray for the bailout not to pass

Pass it did not, but 30% crash will we not see. Unfortunately.

Effective Monday, stocks with market cap under $100M will be non-marginable at IB

Why do these margin changes always appear so suddenly and at the exact wrong time? We DO NOT NEED any more forced selling into this panic. These margin changes should be implemented during less volatile times. After all, it should be no surprise that volatility and risks increase at some point.

IB's margin call liquidation policy on illiquid securities?

How about being short financial stocks at the crazy opening prices Friday? Did IB liquidate anyone because of that spike? I am worried IB auto-liquidation policy could destroy even those who are speculating in normally very liquid stocks. Combine SEC stupidity with IB auto-liquidation...

    IBKR falling

Why is IB stock price falling? They are crazily leveraged as the big banks, or are they? What the hell is going on??

    asus Eee PC for trading

I have just set up a new Asus EEE PC 1000H. This wonderful, stylish mini-laptop is just perfect! Runs TWS & QT with only 20% of CPU and 40% of memory in use, so there's more than enough resources. The EEE PC 1000H has a 10" display, Intel Atom CPU, 1GB RAM, and Windows XP. Best of all is the...

IB TWS - how to log in?

I guess the only solution is to close and restart TWS. Or then nobody understood what I was asking...

IB TWS - how to log in?

Network connection is temporarily cut, TWS tries to log in but can't, I hit "cancel". Then after a while, network connection is back, but with the auto-login canceled, how to make TWS log in again? Can't find this in any menus or anywhere else.

Did you know IB commish is lower than Global Futures?!

You mean Global Futures? And X-Trader? Those fees seem cheap. Can you tell more about your experience at GF? And why is a platform so expensive? It's just a piece of software.. or is it that wonderful??

It's Official: Microsoft Vista Sucks. Just ask Microsoft Execs.

Ok. Which uses less resources (memory, CPU etc)? I just ordered a new mini-laptop (EEE PC) with XP. Seems I have to try to install a version of Ubuntu there too. Hope 1Gb of RAM is enough. Another advantage of XP over Linux is supposed to be better power management. The battery should thus...

Lots of Jobs and Less Than $1 Per Gallon Gasoline

That is CHEAP! Here in Europe nat gas costs 1.10 euro/kg which translates into about $4/gallon. Still, that's very ok, as it is half cheaper than heavily-taxed gasoline. I'm a satisfied owner of a nat gas car. They are quite popular at least in Italy and Germany.
