I just don't follow the "epic" comment, there doesn't seem to have been that many stops above recent highs, market have not YET rallied past the resistance, that's first. Secondly, what short covering do you refer to? From what period?

I really don't know why that would matter, unless you wanted to commit a terrorist act yourself. It's a volatile index alright, just look how it paired against other indexes during Feb sell-off, look at daily volatility patterns.

This is an oscillation of download speed/bandwidth, even that, which is meant to be totally random or continuous, shows a valid point about higher close/lower close.
