Hedge Funds Snap up Miami Real Estate

American real estate seems to be selling quickly these days. Another bubble perhaps?

MSFT worst day in 4 years, ok last 15?

Ah yes I forgot about Surface… That is a good example, or Windows phone. They need some cohesive vision for the company in general.

You are going to work until you drop dead

This raises an interesting question though. Are people working because they want to or because they have to? I would think a lot are working out of need, which is terrible for the US economic outlook in general. America is fast resembling aspects of the 3rd world.

MSFT worst day in 4 years, ok last 15?

If Bill Gates returned as CEO this stock would skyrocket. Gates may have been hated by many people, but he knew how to run the business like the back of his hand. Ballmer is just clueless on so many levels.

    Trading as a Science Blog

So if I understand you correctly, Murray, you’re looking at applying the scientific method to trading and then claiming that if you can successfully do that then trading is a science. I’m still not sure I follow 100% but I’ll keep watching the blog. As you know, I love your software but...

Agreed. A worthwhile use of 50 minutes of time.

Investment Banks Eye 'Hedge Funds for the Masses’

The question is will these hedge funds even significantly outperform the market? Or will they be better than mutual funds? This strikes me as being a little fishy. If you’re a big bank with billions of dollars, why would you open funds catering to the $1,000 crowd?

    Trading as a Science Blog

Murray, in what sense are you using the word “science”? It strikes me that the markets aren’t really a science in the sense that we can give a precise formula like e=mc2 to the markets.

    Intel versus ARM

I see ARM having a lot of influence in the future. Tablets are the way of the future and Intel has missed the boat on that transition for a large part. They might be able to wrestle it from ARM but I could see ARM’s multiples coming down due to higher profits.

"market correction, as much as 90%"

I really doubt that a correction of 90% is likely to happen. Even during the crash we saw the DOW bottom out around 6k. It’s not unfeasible that we’d go back that low but I think we’d need some poor economic data to push it that way.

See what TradersStudio can do for you

I just read the new post but I’m a little confused. How do I use this in a system? I kind of get the concept, but I’m not sure when or why I’d need to use this in my system backtesting…?

Awesome – thanks again! To answer your question above, I didn’t find any Rupee data that I could use. So if you could provide it to me that would be great.

    Investing in Whiskey?

Alcohol companies never seem like a terrible investment to me. There’s always such a broad market for it and well… it’s totally recession proof because what do people do when they learn they’re out of a job… bottom’s up! It may sound ultra mean but it’s a cold, hard truth. Kinda...

Marijuana is the next big crop

That’s an interesting thought that tobacco companies might be involved in this. I had assumed that the marijuana industry would start from scratch in the US if (and that’s a big if) it becomes legal. With cigarette sales on the decline, it would give them a new and growing market so it may...

Thanks once again for your help, Murray. I think it would be a question that a lot of international traders such as myself would be interested in.

Marijuana is the next big crop

I’d like to re-ask what the OP asked: what stocks would be good, if marijuana becomes legalized? I know it’s a bit of a gamble, but if it is legalized it would be pretty big so if there are any stocks that would (or could in the future) cater to this market, they might be worth exploring...

Some of the posts here have been helpful. I had a question on another forum about P/L in Rupees. Think you could maybe PM me or do a blog post on that? I’d really appreciate the help!

Handling Futures Contracts P/L in Foreign Currency? Possible?

Thank you for all the responses. Sorry for being sarcastic above, but I felt like I was just asking an honest question. I am used to USD for trading in general, but it’s often nice to get a feel for a system in my native currency. And like newwurldmn said, there is some currency risk involved.
