Moving into an apartment as a trader...

I have rented housing in 3 different countries with no credit rating in that country and no "job". In my case I have always just showed the landlord some bank statements and paid the rent/deposits in cash up front. With one exception they were all very happy. The exception was a junior...

Larry Williams arrested in Sydney for tax evasion

The newspapers over here seem to vary a little in the story. It always pays to be aware that News=Entertainment and the focus is on selling tv, newspaper or radio adverts not on truth :)

a question for Euro futures traders

Yes, the currency market volumes don't have the same utility that you find in stocks and index futures. There are a few manipulation patterns that you might pick up on but the traditional approaches never worked well for me.

    InteractiveBrokers, Oh My!

LOL cscott ... as someone who's entire posting (except the first which was perhaps the dumbest thread ever started on ET) is dedicated to a stupid attack on IB ... perhaps you will troll elsewhere? Just as a reminder: Only one person is twisting anything here .... and it started with the...

    InteractiveBrokers, Oh My!

Only one person is twisting anything here .... and it started with the first post and your title for the thread. You don't understand the problem and despite peoples attempts to help you, you still havent got there. Perhaps you are just another broker's shill? In that case you never were...

    InteractiveBrokers, Oh My!

OK. Finally something we can agree on. Good to see you're finally going to contact IB and work it though with them. Also, DCraig is correct regarding the extension of what you've done to the assumptions (incorrect) that you make. :)

    InteractiveBrokers, Oh My!

Software writers in the past have been even more remote from communications realities. Computer people who knew anything about X.25, SDLC or, god forbid, TCP/IP were very rare. Private networks were run by people who hopefully had a few clues and could control or at least manage traffic...

    InteractiveBrokers, Oh My!

Just to be very clear about this. The problem is probably with your internet connectivity or your local pc. Understanding TCP/IP connectivity and hardware repair skills are a world apart. If in doubt join an IRC group or some other real time group with people using IB. Hell, join Woodies...

IB reminds me of Etrade in its early days

Yes, they're great; but. The but is simple: if you don't know what you are doing and/or are an idiot you should stay away from ib. They, like Brown used to do, require a certain capability from their customers. If you have a friend using them who can help compensate for what you don't...

IB reminds me of Etrade in its early days

LMAO ... if you can't understand why this is happening you might want to stop posting for a while and think instead.

IB reminds me of Etrade in its early days

LOL patch. There is one clear halfwit in this thread and it sure isn't you. Lawnmowery ... give it up ... you aren't up to the quality other posters on this thread. But you do rise to the bait.

IB reminds me of Etrade in its early days

Why should anyone bother lawnmowery. For no seeming reason you jump into each anti-IB thread with a series of stupid anti-ib posts. So that makes you a halfwit at best and invites criticism from those who enjoy making fun of halfwits. Now if you were to declare that you were only a...

    This "edge" stuff

Liked these posts although as always our varied predjudices show up. Re the edge=advantage wrt to big players you have a niche possibility because you can play in places that might not make sense to a hedgefund etc. To me there are lots of components to my "overall" edge. It needs my brand...

IB reminds me of Etrade in its early days

LOL. Its the wankers and halfwits (maybe half a halfwit in this case) who keep having a go whether justified or not that make the asylum run. Keep it up lawnmowery man.

    N225 nikkei futures

Its a big contract ... but remember its probably in yen. Look at the SGXNK which is N225 on Singapore futures exchange and moves in 5pt increments instead of 10pt for the Tokyo version. A much nicer contract for retail traders.

    TWS can't login - help?

Its the weekend so it wont log in. Check the support page on the site for the hours of operation ... i think it will start to work after lunch Sunday NYT.

Hello I am new and need advice.

The recommendation for interactive brokers is a good one. Re the 7500, yes you can daytrade with 7500. Pick a small index futures contract like the Dow mini or Russell ER2 and see if you can apply your swing trading rules to them. A rule more often broken than observed is to successfully...

    InteractiveBrokers, Oh My!

No. I'm in Aus. Telstra and backup is dial into Equant SP but its about a year since I last used it in anger. Finally a non-Telstra cellphone to call IB and cancel any positions if I lose the internet altogether. In Aus (and I suspect NZ) there are cheap services where the isp concentrates...

    InteractiveBrokers, Oh My!

LOL ... it would seem that someone so clearly not prepared is probably not a shill ... simply NOT competent :) With time and considerable effort he may move beyond that. I have known people who happily used electronic services without understanding their computers, the internet, or what the...
