    Sounds to easy.

With futures it doesnt perform as well as it looks because: - the chances of being stopped out in a pre-announcement spike is too high - when you get it wrong slippage may worsen the ratio dramatically.

    The IRC "Othernet" network

I just tried. Could get onto othernet and onto #trade. Added #Futurestraders and was the only person there. I couldnt see it on the channels list. Did you mean #futurestrades

One of the reasons I like Position Trading

Steve, if the trend was down would you say that you should go with the negative crowd? Or did you mean something different by "negative crowd." As a side comment: Canslim works very well in the market conditions we've seen in the last two years. It also worked well in the last phase of the...

How many pts/day trading the Dow?

Quote from ElectricSavant: This is all wrong. Try to concentrate on your method. Rickytrader, ES is right about this. Its interesting to hear what other people get trading your chosen contract but its answering a question about maximum potential but not the one that is most likely to...

    IB Customer Service is Poor

Another IB critic full of bull. If they post at all before they attack IB they're asking newby questions and then ... they're experts. Love the picture too.

    ib's margin rates incredibly low

If you were a real normal customer and not an idiot or another brokers representative you would have expressed your issue in a rational sensible manner and moved on. But, dear idiot, you continue to obsess and continue your old game of repetition and accusing others of being ib "shills" (ref...

    ib's margin rates incredibly low

Anyone who wants to understand this guy just needs to look at his prior 30 posts almost all of which are stupid attacks on IB. Hes just another broker (or a complete idiot) trying to stir up trouble for IB. Every time a real IB customer calls him to task he calls them an IB employee. LOL...

    Any New Zealand based trader?

If you actually live in NZ (or Aus) then unless you have a desire to follow our namesake into a nocturnal lifestyle I don't think European markets are optimal. Asian markets including HSI, SGXNK, STW and a number of bonds are easier to construct a working day around and very tradable. :) I...

Poll --- Discretionary Trader or System Trader???

Its not a question of not believing in systems at least in my case its simply that I can only figure out how to code a part of what I do. I am thinking about coding that part and then having a manual input to classify the other part and activate only the valid entry conditions and exit...

Impulse trading...Anyone else in the same boat?

They are almost certainly not "impulse" trading ... at least not the good ones. What they will have done is taken whatever rules they used/were taught and internalized them to the point where they appear to be impulses. A very small number may have been lucky and their original impulses...

Impulse trading...Anyone else in the same boat?

That is actually revenge trading in action if not in affect. The reason you are getting such a strong response in this thread is that impulse trading is the enemy of most traders and has at one stage or another done most of us harm. Part of the problem is that you can get away with it at...

    Blacklisted by Brokers

You don't appear to realize that some of the parties you quoted are brokers and some are bucket shops (casinos). For example: Interactive brokers and Man are brokers and won't blacklist you because they don't trade against you, they simply take a commission on every trade so they don't care...

    Trouble interpreting price and volume

Everything Mark says is valid. Re 2% profit per day. Say you have a 200 day trading year then your annual return would be ((1+0.02)^200)*100 = 5250%. That seems quite a reasonable result to me especially if you can do it with a six figure account.

Those that could log in were lucky that they tried while the login server was up .... I suggest that they don't log out again till all is fixed in Oandaland.

    Name that Technical Indicator

You just don't get it hcour :p ... its called RS not relative strength. earlybirdstango, its a very common option and you'll also find it at bigcharts and other free charting service. People often compare rs of one index with another or stocks with in a sector.

Poll --- Discretionary Trader or System Trader???

Yes, my trade entry and exit signals are very systematic (written down and could be computerized) but my perception of context (> take the trade, take only at a great price, no I dont trust this) is 100% discretionary. I classify both as technical analysis (price patterns and behaviour leads to...

Discretionary Trader --- Minds devilish way of categorizing memories!!!

You're right scalper and I think that's why Douglas's The Disciplined Trader is so important. What he deals with is how to change your beliefs - and in doing so change what you focus on and what you remember. My own personal flaw is focussing on the money. Whenever I become to focussed on...

    What's the best indicator?

Isnt' ADX and CCI similar? Not really, look up how they're generated. CCI and ADX will work in both daytrading and swingtrading time frames. For some people some times. Also in 5 minute candlestick, 1 minute or 30 minute or whatever minute. Some things trend better in some timeframes...
