They buy the basket as they short the ETF, then reverse. They only submit the basket if they can't reverse. They are always fully hedged after a short time.

I spoke to an ETF expert. He told me an equity MM does not need a locate on a hard to borrow. they can short the ETF in size and hedge with buying the basket of stocks.They have 6 days to submit the basket for creation. Is is one possible explanation. Let's see in a week what the share count is.

You might find that the main difference is that many hedge funds use trading desks or floor brokers to execute vs an electronic trading platform. They pay for research. They pay for trading ideas. They pay to hear about money flows. They find it is a cost of doing business.

just21, Have you tried to use it? It's not useable in real time. Very difficult to enter positions and upload positions. I guess there are those here that can do it, but I was not able to.

I hate correcting members, but I assume you meant SIPC. Funny, the accounts under $1mm tend to focus on the SIPC limits when the $20mm+ accounts never ask or seemed concerned.
