    Advice for young trader

Not sure what you mean by that. Implied vol is not directional and does not point to fair value, it is a measure of uncertainty. But, if it works for you, that is great. True prop firms, a prop firm that hires you as an employee and does not take your capital, are generally looking for one of...

    Independent Option trader

I agree that an option trader needs to learn to adapt to volitle markets, but not everyone loses money in those markets. I had my best years with those conditions. I have seen just as many traders lose a lot of money from low volume sideways markets. You need to have a strategy or set of...

    Independent Option trader

I 100% agree. The learning curve for options and finding your edge will take time. And, unless you are trading will a fair amount of capital, making a living from it will be harder than just making a return on capital.

    Independent Option trader

If you are at the beginning of your journey, maybe you should consider options on futures. It will enable you to trade outside your working hours while you learn. Also, option on futures provide leverage at lower asset levels, as you need a portfolio margin account for that in equities. And, if...

Are ES Futures Options also settled daily?

No, because our minimum account size is $25,000. With an account of $25K or more, you can trade up to 4 GC overnight and 16 for day-trading on either Realtick or CQG. They are SPAN margin based so we can set that. Risk would have to approve the excess leverage based on your experiance.

Are ES Futures Options also settled daily?

Let's start again, because this is not helpful. You need to understand both requirements, especially for those that use a lot of margin. That way you will understand what causes a margin call. You must be able to have enough equity to cover the INITIAL MARGIN REQUIREMENT at trade. Then, if you...

Are ES Futures Options also settled daily?

GC Initial margin is $5940. Maintenance is $5400. You need $5940/contract in your account to buy/sell each future. If you lose money, and your account drops where you have less than $5400 in collateral for each contract, you must reduce your position or add funds to get back up to the Initial...

Is it possible to win in one trade? Or are we supposed to lose 9/10 times

OK, that makes sense. How did you do last without an "event" like that?

Is it possible to win in one trade? Or are we supposed to lose 9/10 times

Up 85% with a high percentage of losing trades. In my 36 years in the business, unless he is trading with $5000, this is highly unusual.
