How to build a secure computer for storing digital crypto assets

Excellent thread John... but if I may, can I suggest another option? I just want people to be aware of the options in case what you describe is quite daunting (because it was for me). This includes using a hardware wallet, but even a cheap one like the Jade from Blockstream will do. Like you...

How to build a secure computer for storing digital crypto assets

Worse.. those paper wallets don't have a way to get back change. I heard lots of people lost bitcoin in the early years because if they didn't spend the whole UTXO, the change was gone! Maybe it went to the miner... not sure how they had the transaction set up. But yes, paper wallets are 100%...

You're absolutely right... I got scammed again! LOL

Interesting post on increasing SHA256 mining efficiency

Agreed. There is no guarantee. At some point, if price doesn't keep up, then miners will go offline, the difficulty to mine bitcoin comes down, and we would reach some equilibrium point. But I suspect that many miners are in it for the long haul and can sit through a deep down cycle. Its...

Interesting post on increasing SHA256 mining efficiency

Oh ya, this may actually be it... and it sounds better than mine! LOL Are you sure about this? I don't want to say that ETH is a shitcoin like some maximalists would, and I can certainly see the power of defi and all that other stuff in the future. But ETH has many drawbacks, one of which...

Interesting post on increasing SHA256 mining efficiency

Yes, but the reason they get harder to mine is because we need to keep an average block time of 10 minutes. Clearly if you are guessing, and there are more people guessing, we arrive at the right answer faster. Its like if I think of a number between 1 and 100, and 2 people are guessing, they...

Interesting post on increasing SHA256 mining efficiency

I have no idea about who is lending them money. But there was a recent announcement from an OG in this space, one of the cyperpunks who is CEO of Blockstream that makes a hardware wallet. He started a fund that will invest in older model miners (computers) which will then be put to use once...

Interesting post on increasing SHA256 mining efficiency

LOL... I see what you are trying to do here. The cost to produce bitcoin isn't exactly reflective of the price. Just because more people will want bitcoin one day doesn't mean that more supply can come online. Likewise, if bitcion isn't popular for a while, it doesn't mean you can scale back...

Interesting post on increasing SHA256 mining efficiency

From my understanding, it has to do with increasing efficiency of the algorithm. Its kind of like if you are playing roulette, and notice that the wheel isn't balanced, so you find some numbers on one side of the wheel are more likely to come up. So here, I figure they found a way to make the...

Is there anyone here who has a consistently profitable automated trading system?

I totally agree for us retail traders. But I'm sure there are algos out there that are playing this game. Correct. For fills for a dozen contracts, there is no problem, but if they were flashing limit orders of a few hundred contracts, then this for sure would have some sort of impact. Maybe...

Is there anyone here who has a consistently profitable automated trading system?

I agree that it's useless, about 75 % of the time. The trick is to figure out when it might work, but this would require major work, something along the lines of what Chris is doing with his algos. I do think some firms might show heavy liquidity in order to gauge the market, but once...

Is there anyone here who has a consistently profitable automated trading system?

Well if you feel like there is a better way to analyze what "thick" liquidity is telling us, I'm all ears! But I would bet you would say it completely useless.

Is there anyone here who has a consistently profitable automated trading system?

If you disagree with my assessment, show me how I'm wrong. Show me how a a huge order showing up, or a huge order that consistently staying in the market, provides an edge. Tell me where I should go long or short based on the liquidity shown. I'm willing to wait for when you come back... have...

Is there anyone here who has a consistently profitable automated trading system?

Wow... I got the big fish replying to my post.... I'm impressed! My point is that half of the time when I see big orders, the big order "appears" to trade in the direction that the market ends up going. So a huge order on the BID does sometimes fill and cause price to go up, or sometimes it...

Is there anyone here who has a consistently profitable automated trading system?

So I'm sure now that we have solved the Bid/Ask quantity issue, this comment that you made above has taken on a whole new meaning, but I was curious to see if anyone would like to have a discussion about it. Obviously, if you initially thought that there were thousands of resting bids and...

Elon got rid of Spacex's Bitcoins

From what I read on Twitter, this drop had nothing to do with Elon, but everything to do with CZ selling bitcoins like crazy in order to protect the BNB token. Apparently, below 212 I think it is, he gets a big liquidation. Some even suspect he is selling bitcoins in customer accounts. This...

Interesting post on increasing SHA256 mining efficiency

Yes... I agree as well. But this algorithm does way more than just mining, so if there is a way to enhance your chance of finding the right answer without random chance, it would be an eye opener.

Interesting post on increasing SHA256 mining efficiency

I thought this was a very interesting post if true. As we all know, mining is just a probability game, but if an algorithm could be developed that helps you reach the correct hash faster, that would be almost scary.
