    Trading vs Investing

trading = investing and investing = trading... the only difference is the timeframe, nothing more. I invest/trade for the short term... that can be an hour, a day or a month... specially if trade is going in my favor and one manages the position... this concept applies to everything...

    Trading vs Investing

what you fail to understand is the reason why most "small traders" lose... and also, what does one define as small anyhow? improper expectations and lack of risk management is what makes 90% of all traders (regardless of size) lose in the markets... not the account size... if you can manage...

Illinois set to pass Forced Confiscation of All Semiautos

assuming your assailant stays put in the same place and you can discharge a few rounds to center of body mass... but if he starts moving, and you are freaking out, 10 rounds will seem like too little, specially if you are getting shot back at... under pressure, everything changes.

PHOENIX TRADING's 2013 Prophet and Loss Journal

am a bit puzzled... if that is your IRA... how are you going to "live" off it? unless you are old enough to take MRD from it, I dont see how trading that account will help your situation of not having a job... I trade my IRA as well, and own real estate within it, but I cant touch it for 35...

to those posting real blotters, thank you... I use this threads as inspiration and to challenge myself all the time... i can't help it to realize the majority of the PnL's are with equities and options... and I realize that I wont match those PnL with my spreads trading unless I up size by a...

What does your trading setup look like?

I have to agree with Handle123 and the rest, sometimes ... less is better… my setup is pretty simple… laptop as a backup (though it goes with me everywhere)… main workstation with 2x27” 2560x1440 screens… a second workstation for miscellaneous stuff with 2x24" and that is it… most...

Core i7-3930K vs Xeon E5-2630 For Long-duration Financial Calculations

If you are doing number crunching in excel and then moving to matlab for charting, why not just move your code from excel to matlab, handle the whole thing in there and then just use GPGPU’s to get the job done? That would be my first question, specially if you are looking to do analysis for...

What Monitors do you have, size, specs - Led or LCD ?

IMO... if you are using 8 monitors, in reality, each monitor should have one thing and as such you dont need 24"... the best size in that regards are 19" , but they dont really make those anymore, so you are left with 21.5's... same resolution..1980x1080... I personally prefer business class...

    laptop

while some of your requirements are clear, it is unclear to me how you will use it. Are you going to travel with it a lot? are you just looking for the ability to move around and about the house and monitor positions? how do you want to use it, basically.. for what is worth the most...

Any owners of HP Z420 here? (Xeon E5-1650, 8GB)

Xeons are basically "more reliable"... there are actually real differences, but let's just stick with that... true, if you are going dual, then a xeon is the way to go... if you are doing number crunching, the first question you need to ask yourself is if your code can be parellelized... if...

    2012: The Battle for Survival

if I was you, I wouldn't waste my time to focus on what could have been.. I think a lot of people have similar stories, I know I could have retired at age 30 with 2MM in the bank at the height of the RE bubble and yet, I didn't... so move on from that... focus on the future and concentrate...
