    Goldman and Arch Coal

That Marta Stewart deal was just another insult IMO. Back then it was just a cover so investors gained confidence in the market once again. And the beat goes on.

firm takes risk deposit legal or not ?

It does not really goes that way. 1- Most traders dont use all their, ammo. 2- In prop trading I think most traders dont do overnight so they get liquidated when they blow it. 3- We did not hear of any blowout here in the last year so I think things are under control.

    Dividend mining

Did. The only thing that I saw working was high yield (15-20%) Canadian oil trust where you go long the trust, long a call and short a put (short synthetic). Therefore market neutral but you get to keep a part of the dividend if it's higher than the cost of the premium. I used to have some 8%...

I think most successfull traders dont post their results here. Just think that no one at Bright is posting his results here everyday and according to Don he has an army of traders playing it. So this thread may not be a good sample test for judging profitability.

I disagree. On the Street, where there is risk, there is opportunity (with risk, not just the reward). It can, depends how you play it. But was it poor days or very good days. Only read the second post of this thread where one guy make an average of 1.5-2 cents per share on average over the...

IB "Can't find order with id" messing me up

Never had any problem. Suppose I am long one stock and want to had one stop and one limit I make a buy stop and sell limit and I just give them BOTH the SAME OCA name that is the same, lets's say "Stock1". I do the same in my Excel API no problem. I send the orders after execution so I dont...

I agree also, I've programmed the whole thing myself and it was a full week of work. Even if I had some codes that I could use for some recuring features. Only think that if you get the data from Yahoo you need to look that every date is there and filter for missing dates. You really need to be...

Bull by Night, Bear by Day Is Best Strategy, Goldman Sachs Says

I dont know if it can work and I dont really care. My point is it's not because it happened that it's goign to happen again. I would like to see the equity curve/drawdown... of that thing and I'm sure it's not consistent. There surely is a 2-3 years drawadown that no one would keep trading.

Bull by Night, Bear by Day Is Best Strategy, Goldman Sachs Says

93, not 97. The way I "feel" it's curve fitting in sample BS. During the tech bubble most of the upside was on up gaps and during the last credit crunch bear market the moves happended intraday. Making it a "winner" system. Totally BS that you can't repeat. It's salesman gimick to tell...
