    Fundamental for what?

I disagree. Various original Turtle trader group members are still profitable following variations on the same theme, while countless more trend-followers are since recognised and proven as master traders in their own right, amongst them - • Bruce Kovner is worth more than $4.1 billion. • John...

What index should one use as a benchmark (if any)?

Yes, I know and I agree its a professional approach in business and almost any organised venture to measure what you do and then gauge the performance against a benchmark. But I think its one of those areas where trading diverges from conventional career fields. In our game, if you have a...

What index should one use as a benchmark (if any)?

I don't think its a question that helps. That is, no matter what your answer, and how satisfied you are with it, it doesn't lead towards better trading. If your strategy has holes in it you know already or you should do, so you could make it better or get a better one anyway. Finding out you...

    Fundamental for what?

Well I could say glibly a trend is a trend if my trend-following strategy can trade it as a trend. But as vanilla trends still occur on charts and still look like trends and act like trends, maybe the best I might accept (but not without evidence) is that trends might be less common and less...

    Fundamental for what?

20 years ago or 200 years ago or last night, a trend is a trend is a trend. Of course if I put up a successful trader who used a TA approach from just 2017, it could be argued that the approach had been just dumb luck by coinciding with a bull market or some such. The fact remains, Dennis...

    Fundamental for what?

I think Richard Dennis provided all the proof I would need that a purely TA-based trading approach can be profitable.

You guys can stop worrying and take more time off - I will tell you when its time to make money shorting the S&P and the rest.

    Fundamental for what?

I don't do any fundamental analysis, though I believe FA is the vital factor in long-term price movement. I assume that the professionals employed by the biggest banks in the game will be better at FA than I am. Their employers will then act as appropriate on their analysts' recommendations...

Studies: the stock market's price action is bullish while breadth is weakening

I don't get what you mean, they expect them to diverge further?

Studies: the stock market's price action is bullish while breadth is weakening

Oddly, the majority of clients with the firm I trade through are long Nasdaq but short Dow and S&P. No data on their time-frames of course but I wonder what they're expecting?

    Fundamental Analysis of a Commodity

Its been said before but trading on the commodities market on a FA basis puts you head to head with real experts. I don't mean they're just good traders, I mean big players who are actually carrying out production, processing, transport, storage and supply. These are effectively insider traders...

    Markets are not Random

Careful, equity indices tend to go up. This is because the equities which are falling or not rising or which are no longer listed are aggressively replaced as members of the index by equities which are rising. But individual equities have no inherent long-term tendency to move either up or down.

What are the most conflicting things you've heard from ET?

I've known some friends and colleagues who say they never use TA and hit can't work anyway and its not for the serious players in the game. Then, when buying a share, they ask what is its price. And how high / low has it been say a month ago........

Why can't I get to 50% chance even?

Get back to basics. TA is a great basis for trading, but only in so far as it tells you clearly what the big money has been doing - buying or selling. An uptrend indicates the big boys have been buying, a downtrend indicates they have been selling. If they have been buying enthusiastically...

Does it make sense to do pair trading?

No private retail trader ever got rich doing this with their own money. But it makes extra commissions and fees for the industry.

Why market wizards are not day traders?

I just hope no new traders still on demo read this, because 100% of them will think when you say simple you mean easy. And 90% of that lot will fail.

Why market wizards are not day traders?

    I don't like tax, I don't like government intereference, I don't like Socialism, I don't like Corbyn.

Why market wizards are not day traders?

Day-trading can be done, but the probability of a new trader progressing from non-trading to profitable day-trading before they blow up is minimal. For those who make it, they've no reason to change what they're doing, so other newbies, "new newbies", naturally and wrongly conclude this is the...
