Corbyn as PM - price target for Sterling?

Leader of the Opposition - Jeremy Corbyn On Marx - "a great economist" https://www.telegraph.co.uk/news/2017/05/08/marx-brothers-jeremy-corbyn-joins-john-mcdonnell-praising-communist/ Shadow Chancellor - John McDonnell On Marxism - "Marxism is about the freedom of spirit, the development of...

    Swingtrading is better than intraday.

I have never been able to trade profitably intra-day. I was a great fan of aggressive swing trading until a few years back when I realised that my with-trend positions ran further and more smoothly, while my counter-trend positions were quick, choppy and formed the majority of the losers. The...

    Brexit: Fight or Flight?

Of course, what the BoE couldn't really model was the impact on the UK economy of Labour winning a General Election brought about by the Brexit issue, and Jeremy Corbyn becoming Prime Minister. This would sink the GBP to record lows against the USD, severely impact business investment and make...

    Brexit: Fight or Flight?

The Bank of England suggested it might take us about 5 years for the economy to recover to where it is today of we undergo a no-deal Brexit. https://www.bbc.co.uk/news/business-46377309 So the heaviest arguments for and against would seem more political than economic. That's not to devalue...

    Brexit: Fight or Flight?

Parliamentary procedure here is bizarre. The voting is strange but its quick and hasn't produced a mistaken count in living memory. In case of Honourable Members becoming over-passionately involved in debates, the government and opposition sides of the house are bound by a red line on the...

Is fundamental analysis less important than technical analysis in forex?

A key factor would be the European Central Bank interest rate. The higher the interest rate, the more that lenders of the currency are paid by borrowers, so owning more EUR enables a bank to lend more. GDP and GDP growth within the Eurozone is also important, especially Germany's. Also...

    Dramatic Price Change of SPY

But would that seriously be your recommendation to a new trader? Surely you do not base your own trading on 100 to 1 long shots like this?

    Dramatic Price Change of SPY

Technically true, again. But in the actual practice, most guys who start on M5 will be broke in 1 month. Most guys who start on D1 will not - and this is one factor amongst several that gives them an edge - they have at least the opportunity to survive long enough to learn the game.

    Dramatic Price Change of SPY

But all you're saying is trading is profitable if you do it right, and a loser if you do it wrong. Which is also what I'm saying - there are Formula 1 drivers after all, using my analogy, but the most truthful answer to a new trader or a trader new to day-trading who asks will I make money...

    Dramatic Price Change of SPY

If anyone's already successful trading off M5, they should carry on, regardless of what I say. There will be some traders out there who are doing well on H1 and previously did well on H4 and D1, they might want to give M5 a try. It might be an interesting challenge although financially...

    Dramatic Price Change of SPY

If you're consistently profitable then well done you. But the majority of experienced traders and almost all new traders cannot do this. Therefore, isn't it a little like being told by the examiner that as you've passed your driving test you might like to try your hand at Formula 1?

    Dramatic Price Change of SPY

Looks like bad data feed to the chart. Firms I have traded with often say in their blurb that charts are indicative only, quotes are what they stand by. Plus, I have to add whether you want to hear it or not, stop wasting time looking at 5-minute charts.

Don't ever read any of this stuff. Its not intended to make sense, simply to generate clicks. Its not to help you make money, its to help CNBC make money.

Is it worth trading outside RTH?

Live intra-day trading is a losing game for the majority, even within RTH, so outside those times is just making a hard game harder. Holding long-term positions is fine as long as stops aren't silly narrow. But running positions and pending orders on forex across the start of the week's trading...

The best trade is staying in cash -

The best trade is the one that follows price. In a bull market be long, in a bear market be short. Cash is not an investment, it is not an adequate excuse for not finding a market which is bullish or a market which is bearish.

    Simple (Simplest?) Daily Breakout System

Sensible points. I am avoiding taking these daily break-out trades if the last session on that particular chart was either the widest or narrowest range in the last month. Should also have said I'm using this on forex pairs, plus commodities and stock indices, but haven't looked at its use for...

    Simple (Simplest?) Daily Breakout System

As 24/12 sessions were very low volume and in many locations the trading sessions were shortened for Christmas, yesterday's day's ranges are narrower than usual. This increases the risk that 26/12 ranges could print as outside days, with ranges that exceed both the highs and lows of 24/12...
