    I'm out

Until you've tried and failed at all the major styles of trading, this decision is premature.

What's one of your main desires?

Main desires for this year - make more money eat at better restaurants come home and make more money buy better wine sober up and make more money take more trips to Europe fly back home and make more money. I used to include work less on this list. But now I don't work at all......

    Betting on Brexit event

This is pure gambling right now as there are so many unknowns. Nobody is even partly certain that GBP will rise this week or fall this week. So, you could put bracket orders above and below the current GBP price. But even then, would the higher order be to buy or to sell and would the lower one...

What’s Driving the Unusual Calm in Currency Markets

Most charts are very flat. Even on seemingly barely related pairs. I look at the weekly bar charts of the 28 major pairs each weekend. The bar for the last completed week on most charts overlaps with multiple prior weeks' bars. In some cases the overlaps have been sustained over 10, 12, 13...

Important times during a trading day

I don't generally trade intra-day but for last few weeks I'm trialling London Opening Range Breakouts on indices, forex and a few commodities. Fits with my life-style as I'm in the UK anyway so no getting up in the wee small hours! I'm using the 0700-0800 bar as my range and entering bracket...

Is Trading the most intellectually stimulating/challenging thing you have ever done? What is #1?

Trading is an exceptional challenge, but as much emotionally as intellectually. In other fields, the intellectual challenge was simply acquiring and retaining information and connections. The more we knew, the more successful the task. Those who knew least were paid the least, those who knew...

Sen. Elizabeth Warren unveils plan to break up Amazon, Facebook and Google

There may well be problems with big multi-nationals (and the US healthcare system) but do not let socialists into government under the smoke screen of sorting these issues out. As their policies face difficulties they will curtail capitalism and individual liberties. As their policies fail they...

    End of All Bear Markets?

I very much fear its the industry, merely so they could say, "Well, right now its not a bear market, so you must be safe to buy".

Unorthodox legal ways to gain an edge

This is a realistic viewpoint. I try to remain humble and ask myself occasionally - What can I do better / bigger / faster than the people at Citigroup?. The answer is probably nothing. But that's OK because I'm not competing with them and I'm not trying to trade the way they trade.

Unorthodox legal ways to gain an edge

I feel the idea is good in principle but I wonder if you need to be more unconventional. I can definitely recall market commentators in the past who bought based on new advertising contracts, truck purchases, staff recruiting drives etc. All these indicate confidence in future prospects but...

    The S&P 500 has topped on 2/25/2019 at 2813.49

I follow forex pair trends. Until they end. Which I guess you might mean until they mean-revert. But that's alright: no position ever created by any strategy was meant to last forever. I don't understand the antipathy towards trends on the grounds that they eventually end. What trade from what...

    The S&P 500 has topped on 2/25/2019 at 2813.49

You just have to select the right crowd to not follow. I follow the money. I don't follow the mass of private retail traders who see price reaching the top right of their screen from the bottom left and think to themselves, Oh, its just too high, I must go short........

    The S&P 500 has topped on 2/25/2019 at 2813.49

The danger doesn't lie in whether this particular top prediction is wrong. The real danger is the attitude that calling tops and selling into a furious uptrend or calling bottoms and buying into a furious downtrend is the route to riches.

    End of All Bear Markets?

Its no time to be short on individual equities when the major equity indices are in uptrends. No matter what we think, no matter what analysts, our brokers, journalists or even fund managers tell us. For a simple guide, refer to the indices' 50EMA's - all 3 50EMA's of the 3 major US stock...

Seeing Numbers and Charts in my sleep!

Get out your old Casio digital wristwatch and set it to peep-peep every hour. Then take 5 minutes away from the screen. More important to make sure ergonomic posture is right for your wrists, neck and back, than damaging your eyes. You can't damage your eyes by looking through them.
