Significance of different moving average periods?

Where price is in relation to the 200 is without question a factor in decision-making. But that's less than what ET180 is suggesting.

Significance of different moving average periods?

So you believe that MA's work because enough people to believe them that in combination they buy or sell sufficient to move price? So indirectly, MA's move price? Are you really saying these things?

for those who complain about the trade war

Ah, I just realised, this red pill blue pill stuff is a reference to The Matrix. I saw it. Not a bad film as it had intrigue and entertaining action, though the protagonists and their adversaries were all robots made of cardboard. The pseudo-sociological/philosophical reaction to it on the...

10,000 hours to learn trading - Who wrote this rule?

Yes, a person could be taught to trade a rigid strategy within 20 hours. But maybe accepting they must follow the strategy would take most of them 10,000 hours.

Significance of different moving average periods?

The figure 20 has not significance over say 18 or 23, but humans like round numbers. Like, 5 fingers per hand, 10 fingers total. Its why round numbers have alternative names like dozen, score, pony, grand, monkey, fortnight, century and so on.

Significance of different moving average periods?

I don't think there's any science behind it, trading isn't a science after all. Its just customary practice. Once a MA period becomes well known through a respected writer, it makes sense to use the same MA period: new writers are taken seriously that way. If a new writer deviates their period a...

Back to Block Dealing in FX

The main 28 pairs have had very "untrendy" charts for such a long time, I can only hope this signals a possible escape from that scenario.

    AMP Global Application Requirements

I stand by my statement - if you're not a citizen of Canada, you do not gain all the rights or the duties applicable to a Canadian citizen simply by crossing the border. I'm pretty sure this is not a radical principle unique to Canada. You can say that country of residence is more important...

    AMP Global Application Requirements

I merely responded to your statement - "There should not be a difference between living in Canada or having their citizenship, because I still have to live by Canadian laws and rules, that are as good as the USA laws and rules," You might not agree with my opinions but you cannot say that I...

    AMP Global Application Requirements

Citizenship confers both duties as well as rights. By living in a country you cannot automatically acquire the full complement of both. If you reject some duties you must accept the loss of some rights - Why should a non-citizen have the right to pick someone else's government? And how would...

for those who complain about the trade war

Great post dozu. Good point about Election v's Inauguration - we don't have that gap so I had missed the relevance. But come on now, draining the swamp's a great hook, but surely YOU don't believe that do you?

for those who complain about the trade war

I place bets on the Dow index value, long only. Trump became President nearly 3 years ago now. Since then the Dow is up 40%. In the 3 years prior to that it was up 30%. Also in the 3 years prior to that, about 30%. There have been multiple opportunities to buy in at a discount since Jan 2017...

    AMP Global Application Requirements

If there is a blacklist naming certain countries, I would not be surprised. I'm sure its just a commercial decision based on statistics, its not personal, like if you live in a certain postcode area your car / home insurance is going to be a crazy premium. Tough but that's business.

What are the most popular trading strategies?

How successful are HFT/Quants? We know that EU brokers have only about 20-25% winning private retail clients. Amongst private retail traders it always seems to me that trend-following is the least popular trading strategy.

    Stock position conflicts

If you're a trader who also has some long-term investments, this kind of conflict happens all the time. But its not an immediate issue as the short trade in Stock Z has a far closer time-horizon than the investment in Stock Z. If you're pragmatic, you can also make sure your trade strategies...

This financial markets bubble is different, is it not?

I trade the Dow index value. Its a simple method - Stay long in an uptrend. Get out when price pulls back. Get in long again when price resumes climbing. Add as it rises. Get out when price pulls back. etc. etc.

As recession fears calm, a Morgan Stanley managing director explains why we're only in the ‘first in

Its fake in a sense that most people don't recognise but not useless. The object of news media is to attract, not inform. The aim of the game is to win reads / views / clicks / likes / shares / papers sold / books sold. The last thing a journalist wants to do is give their audience the last...
