easyguru: moderate does not equal dictator

Dear NihabaAshi, I WAS sharing the strategies - via pointing to a book :) I didn't even think for a second it would be a problem for anyone to locate the book if need be. And no that's not what the problem was for them - they simply wanted a ready-to-use thing, which nothing is in life. In...

easyguru: moderate does not equal dictator

Who said I returned? I merely stepped in for a second to bring a useful resource to those who were interested and wanted a worthy book to read over the holidays. As for the extended leave, I was about to do just that. And having read some of the recent threads, I think I'll be missed a lot...

Why is mr. market allowed to continuously post crap in the "trading" section

You'd be surprised! :D Strangely enough, I felt more free there. Almost any rule can be "bent" if you know how and is negotiable if you know who to negotiate with. Here the gov't is quite paternalistic I must say. You have plenty of "significant freedoms" like freedom of speach etc. But...

easyguru: moderate does not equal dictator

First of all, if you post my reply, you might as well post the insult I was replying to - namely, someone who others (moderators by the way) agreed was a troll and needed to be on my ignore list, insulting me by saying I posted only to brag about some silly reference and belittleing the...

easyguru: moderate does not equal dictator

That BS was totally uncalled-for. If you don't see any of my contributions, then you must have spent all your time reading Mr.Markets threads. PS If you agree that closing a thread that has useful info is professional, then I'm not sure how they select moderators here. PPS Doctored my a$$...

Why is mr. market allowed to continuously post crap in the "trading" section

Leave the commies alone! :D Check out easyguru's moderating skills and you'll see who's the one removing all he/she doesn't like at his whim. The censors in the USSR at least had to consult with others.... Land of the free my a$$, I've lived in 4 countries and feel the most controlled in...

easyguru: moderate does not equal dictator

I'm not sure whether something happened to ET in general, or whether it's just the "Resources" forum I never posted to earlier, but it sure is being moderated in a very "special" kind of way. I started a thread a couple of weeks ago, it seemed to be contributing to the discussion (admittedly...

    Beyond the Random Walk

What happened to that "Beyond random walk" book thread I started a while ago? Seems like it vanished into thin air. Not that I particularly feel attached to it or anything, but I keep getting PM'ed by people looking for that thread. Was there something said that was inappropriate? Weird...

    Prepaid credit cards.

That's the definition of a smart card. They are used all over in Europe and have been for some time. The US hasn't picked up on it yet b/c banks have to invest into new infrastructure (like the card readers etc.)

    Prepaid credit cards.

Now you are contradicting yourself. i thought you said above the benefit was that the card had the info stored locally, so the vendor didn't have to have an agrement with the card issuer. Unless I misunderstood you.

    Prepaid credit cards.

Mastercard had a similar system way before paypall - you could send money via email. The either abandons it or downplayed it since. Could be b/c there wasn't enough $ to be made there.

    Prepaid credit cards.

You'd be surprised. It does add up. I've heard the same story over and over but I think it probably applies less if at all to the younger generations. For me it's just the opposite. Once I use the ATM for a withdrawal, the money is out my my "system" and becomes pocket change. I treat...

    Prepaid credit cards.

See, my different strokes comment was very applicable. I'm the EXACT opposite way. I like to be as close to the asphalt as possible. Even the firebird has too much ground clearance for me :D I was thinking of getting a Vett instead precisely b/c it's closer to the ground. I don't like the...

    Prepaid credit cards.

Like what? I assume you meant the perils of managing debt some people can't handle. That's what debit cards are for. And if you have one from a credit union that draws upon the savings account, at least you earn some (albeit pathetic) interest on the $ while you don't use it.

    Prepaid credit cards.

I agree they will be issued. Along with smart cards currently more popular in Europe than the US. The reason they will be is b/c there will be demand. The people behind that demand will be the least financially educated segment though. Those who don't get the time value of money. PS you...

    Prepaid credit cards.

:D Vipers and Vetts are overpriced too. But performance-wise, I'd rather pick some overpriced Italian slug. Can't afford the Lamborgini yet, so have to settle for German-made in the mean time. Did have an Alfa Romeo for a few years. The firebird pales in comparison performance-wise (maybe...
