    Stops

Once one has found or built a system that one can rely on surely it is better to exit the market when its obviously going the wrong way and the system indicates this. Stops are so inflexible. Sometimes they take you out of the market and the market is turning. Or one can be too complacent that...

    Stops

Personally I usually close my position for weekends in favour of having stops. As I spread-bet I think stops are their meat and drink. Its amazing how often their " market " swings by that extra few points that collects one's stop. Not that I would like to suggest underhand practices naturally...

Perhaps you should seriously consider working for GM. It has hundreds of Phds working flat out. The scuttlebut says they are working on a new very hush-hush product. It is rumoured to be a car with only one wheel LOL

I dont want to pour cold water on such clever people as Phds. But spare a thought for most of the billionaires - they haven't even got basic degrees, mainly honary ones if any. Richard Branson for instance has 1 Ordinary level, a qualification of a thick 15 year old. The average office worker...

    Suggestions to Elite

Hopefully ET isn't just going to ignore comments about the site. Basically a very good and interesting site but YOU gotta move forward guys - you aren't the best financial site anymore, the competition are improving and are not afraid of suggestions. SO c'mon guys lets WAKE UP a bit

    Suggestions to Elite

    1. Because it is so difficult to find a suitable system especially for newcomers perhaps ET could have their own in-house reviews ( neutral of course ) of software. If you think that you haven't the time then farm out software to interested members for their appraisal. This would be greatly...

    Technical analysis with artificial intelligence

It is much the same old story as the Great Californian goldrush. The people that made the money were the sellers of booze, picks and shovels etc. not the 49'ers generally. Their success rate was probably about the same as trading, with a few notable exceptions , which publicised the goldfields...

Daytrading S&P: The Hardest Game in Town

Jake B's article mentions starting out with e-mini contracts etc. OK for the well off starter but for most people who want a bit of the action and learn over a longish period I would suggest a much cheaper method. For an opening account of $500 one can have months of practice and fun. I think...

Middle East Meltdown and US Foreign Policy.

Not many people know this but the Jews were offered the highlands of Kenya by Britain. The offer was rejected at the conference in Basle about 1910. I wonder what would be happening there now if the offer had been accepted ??????????

Middle East Meltdown and US Foreign Policy.

Look what happens when two aggressive philosophies meet head to head. I was trying to remember the guy's name who said something about turning the other cheek. Ah well any moron can pull a trigger I suppose and probably will !!!!!!!!!!!!!!

    BioComp Dakota with Swamp Technology

I think you may mean swarm technology. I bought the program on the basis that it will do less curve fitting in its optimisation. Some of the the bots do show a profit on the S&P 500 but its not very big. I am hoping they will write some better ones. I have bought a book on Visual Basic to try...

    Analysis by Neutral Guy

Take NO notice of the jibes Mishwar seems to be mostly envy - if they can do half as well let them step up to the plate and show what they can do My bet is not one of the jerks will accept the challenge

    Analysis by Neutral Guy

Occasionally I have taken an overnight position after a 100+ points move on the Dow. This anticipates a bounce ie a reversal of direction. Usually it is successful and I expect to make 30+ points before the markets re-open. The biggest stop you would need is probably about 50 points imho.

    The $ 67000 question

OK Mishwar just for starters what's your forecast on the Dow for today ( Wednesday ) ? Just up or down will do ( as long as it's right ) :D :D

    Any publicly available futures data?

I suggest looking at the mid spread prices offered by any spread bet company. Their money is on the line if they get it wrong and they are right up to date (excepting weekends etc)
