    CROX, RIMM and other bubbles

I wouldn't be surprised to see it fill the gap eventually.

How did you happen to come up with this conclusion?

Fed will announce what at 2:15pm Wed?

This makes no sense, why would they raise rates if they are faced with a recession or even price shock stagflation? No the Fed will drop by 25 because it's the easy thing to do and their priorities have been anything but inflation lately. How about a no change announcement and see the...

    abolish the Federal Reserve?

No it is not. While money supply does affect inflation there a ton of other things that are significant, if not more so. Monetarists and Keynesians have different views on this but monetarism has been tried and has failed as I said earlier in this thread. Go to Wikipedia and look up the...

    abolish the Federal Reserve?

It's about more than banks whining (but I'm pretty sure the person losing their house isn't exactly smiling). The Northern Rock situation is a prime example. Nobody wanted to lend them money because nobody knew exactly where they stood liquidity wise. You then have a situation where the trust in...

    abolish the Federal Reserve?

So what do you believe? If your government is making up numbers you have much bigger problems than the Fed. I don't actually live in the US so I have no idea what the "street level" inflation is. All I have to go by are the numbers the US Gov puts out.

    abolish the Federal Reserve?

There's a lot of uninformed opinion around this site especially around economics. First off monetarism ala Milton Friedman failed miserably in the middle of the last century. It has been tried and it didn't work - controlling the money supply doesn't work and infact, it can't be done...

DOM ACV and bid/ask WALL used tgether

That's an interesting way to look at it. Someone else also mentioned looking at the bids as people who are short and the offers as people who are long. Which ever group (longs or shorts) is the largest will control the price and move it their way. I was wondering if there is any way to trade...

    I'm calling it - SnP at 1610

Today really felt like a reversal day. My trading call is for 1610 sometime in November with a stop at 1490. We closed at 1506 today so that another 104 points (7%) higher. I though we'd see 1480 but right now it doesn't look like the market will get there anytime soon.

    Trading Monday, October 22nd

He represents the herd/cnbc view, which is always right until the market gets punished. People have been screaming at him, telling him how stupid he is but his calls have been right simply because making money in a bull market has nothing to do with how smart you are (smart people tend to be...

Someone said it before - he's all about parody. You can actually learn something from him, but not in the way most come here to learn.

    Support in the SnP

From a purely technical viewpoint 1480 looks really strong. It's around August resistance and the 200ma. If we break it the bears will have a much stronger case technically. But as it is the market is going up (who cares why) so buying dips is the smart play. 1480 is another 20 points lower so...

    RIMM short term play

Got stopped out of the BIDU long the next day - near the lows. But still holding RIMM from 111 and now at 117. May as well move the stop to b/e. Doesn't take a genius to see it's likely to make new highs.

how do you trade in market like this

I'd imagine Market Profile would be very handy in a market like this. Fading moves outside of the value area should have been largely profitable. *I personally don't use MP but it's always interested me.*

    IMF says USD OVERVALUED

Maybe someone mis-typed the formula into the IMF model and they came out with the total opposite conclusion. It's clear they discovered their mistake and rectified it in the international media. Someone may get fired for this.

    Why no Black Monday threads?

I'm getting worried, SnP made an inside day, outside day (down), then another inside day and today it looks like we're finally going to go break out of this range - probably south.

    What`s your biggest tradeing blunder?

I'd have to disagree with you. Earnings = Volatility and as traders we love volatilty. The lesson here is quite obvious - don't risk 20% of your account on one trade.

    The Crash of 2007

I have a target of 1610 on the SnP before lower prices. The market always seems to go just that little bit further than what most people think. I hope your short position works out for you.
