    META Likely bottomed

Facebook & Google are value traps in this market since advertising drops during recessions. META & GOOG just keep dropping. The same is true fro NVDA & AMD since their markets have evaporated especially nVidia with the end of Ethereum mining.

The Ivy League Dropout Who Just Sold His Firm to Adobe for $20 Billion

Market cap of ADBE is down $33.7 billion in the last 2 days. It doesn't sound like the shareholders like it much. It is supposed to start making money in 2025, so for 2.5 years this is a money loser. According to what I read Figma (and Canva) were eating Adobe's lunch for these collaborations...

RIVN is holding up very well

More vaporware from companies just like in the late '90s. I remember CommerceOne and their never ending "press releases" about building B2B platforms. Rivian is doing great, it is only down 78%. I guess that's better than the 90% it was down a few months. It has $15 billion in cash &...

    Help me...What do I not see...Intel

Same old story -- crappy management. The previous 2 CEOs were too busy jerking off & lollygagging. Maybe the current CEO can do something but its a long term strategy at best. Foundries are not a good business. They are cost heavy and low margin. That's the reason Intel, IBM, NEC, etc. all...

ARKK, continually trying to stay afloat

Yeah this is perfect scenario for an option straddle -- 40 puts & 50 calls (+-10%).

ARKK, continually trying to stay afloat

ARKK up 2.6% and QQQ down 1.5%. What a dichotomy. Looks like the Wood crowd still believes that deflation is right around the corner. If it doesn't happen ARKK goes down another 50% probably. Interestingly the BOJ has the same strategy -- just ignore inflation and hope it goes away.

I'm very long GDXU here, gold++

Maybe short term it will rise, but with higher dollar & rates it seems unlikely to maintain it. Silver was up like 5% a few days ago but it was probably shorts covering. SLV & GLD already down 4% since Monday's high. edit: I think the time to buy GLD is after the Fed signals rate hiked are over.

The power of the almighty US dollar is a bit of a mystery

I don't know if that's true but the most influential musicians in dance music history were all electrical engineers turned techno pioneers -- Kraftwerk (Ralf Hutter & Florian Schneider). They basically created all the modern instruments for electronic music. Roland even ripped off their drum...

    It's a beautiful day

Do you think that the BOJ and/or ECB will intervene in the forex markets to stop the slide? Japan must be getting killed importing commodities with the collapsing Yen.

OK, who is going to lie and say they saw today's HUGE drop in the charts?

I'm amazed how food prices keep going higher. Even Organic dairy here in the SF Bay Area keeps rising which is strange since by definition these products are local. I don't understand why they would go up at all. Even some chips I used to buy went from $1.80 to $3.00 in the last 6 months.

OK, who is going to lie and say they saw today's HUGE drop in the charts?

Looks like this market is unique unto itself. It appears to be an inflection market where the old rules no longer apply like the post-SEC market of the 1930s. There are too many people who believe deflation is right around the corner. Looks like inflation is long and sticky like in the 1970s &...

The power of the almighty US dollar is a bit of a mystery

I think it is simply a matter of beta. When the dollar rises people flee to the safe haven and when the dollar goes down it means economic conditions have loosened so that translates into buying assets with the most beta which is EM or Nasdaq. Whats fascinating since the pandemic is that the...

Why this maths genius refuses to work for a hedge fund

The book about their shenanigans was called When Genius Failed by that WSJ reporter. I remember I saw an interview with Myron Scholes on the NOVA special about the collapse of LTCM. He had no conscience, he was a real psychopath.

Half of NFL Player’s Salary to be Paid in Bitcoin

I'm surprised any NFL player knows what Solana is. Trevor Lawrence must be knee deep in crypto to know what that is. He is a recent college grad so maybe he heard about it from his friends on campus. edit: I thought Rodgers was smarter than to take his salary in BTC, but he also doesn't...

Jumbo Fed Rate Hike Is in Play as Powell Sticks to Hawkish View

I was watching the halftime Fast Money traders yesterday and they made fun of the fact that the market said they don't believe Powell. That he is simply bluffing and won't keep raising rates. This market is very confusing. Sometimes Powell looks like Volker and other times he looks like the...

    Get Long Now

OP was right again. Kudos. Some people just a have feel for it like Livermore did. Of course another bad CPI print will tank the markets hard.

    Here we go again

Amazingly ECB raised rates 75 bps and the Euro still fell. Maybe yesterday's intraday come back was unwarranted after all. There is simply no fundamental case for going long the Euro, Pound or Yen.

USDJPY set up ideas and trades

Seems like for the currencies that I trade the 2-hour SMA works pretty well except for the Euro which gets congested quite often like it did last month.

USDJPY set up ideas and trades

TA is still a good guide nonetheless. My experience from using RSI is that it does work with the exception in a true breakout it becomes less useful. This is the rare event of a breakout in a currency I guess. Back in March the RSI was >90 but it still kept going higher so that should have been...

USDJPY set up ideas and trades

I really thought the BOJ would have intervened by now to stem the slide. When are they going to do something? Or will they just let it go to 200+? I heard some dire predictions of the Euro going to 0.75 & Yen going to 250.
