What Could Raising Taxes on the 1% Do? Surprising Amounts

The flaw in that article is that they mention only the current fiscal year's budget deficit and not the total outstanding US fiscal balance deficit. If you look at IRS data, you could tax the top 1% at a 100% rate (take ALL of it) and it would still take you about 15 years to pay off the...

    Spoofing becoming illegal

Agree. If the trader can actually put a 900 lot into his order book, then his clearing firm's Risk Manager must be fine with it. So he should be able to wear them just fine. My experience has been that size actually attracts size.

    WINDOWS 10

I run 10 on my client work PC, but 7 professional 64x will stay on the trading PC. Just got it last week when I installed a new HDD. It has not been buggy for me, it does boot faster and it is more intuitive to use. But honestly, it just looks different. I agree completely about MS putting...

    SpreadProfessor Clients - Thanks !

Well, as some of my clients know, my office PC upon which I do my client work had a corrupted and failing HDD - and the external drive backup images were corrupted as well. I had to do a clean install last week and have been reinstalling programs and transferring backup files. I will be able...

Wingz, you are certainly welcome. My apologies for not being terribly specific with respect to particular matters - unfortunately that's a byproduct of having clients.

I would not necessarily say that I would agree with your definitions per se. While tradecraft and experience are important, IMHO the less intuition and judgement the better. Fully automated functionality are not imperative for a system trader. But strict compliance with his rules for entry...

    SpreadProfessor Clients - Thanks !

I have found through the years that a trader labeling himself a "systems" trader can easily sabotage the rules and protocols he originally established, and that's where the trouble usually starts - and snowballs from there. Could be from boredom, could be impulsive, could be anxiety.... Who...

Let me just opine on how I have tried in my own trading and in my client work to enforce selectivity and positive outcomes . Take discretion and emotion out of trading. Don't force a trade. No set-up will ever be perfect, and I could nit-pick any trade I ever took or will take. But take the...

Cloning with Acronis loses all updates and reverts to 2/24/2015

I got steered away from Acronis and into Macrium Reflect in terms of cloning and disc imaging. FWIW...

I funded an IB account a while ago and haven't done much of anything with it to date to speak of - too busy with my client work and other account. I will make it a point to start executing some meaningful spread trades on it routinely so that I can be more helpful with IB-related matters.

For spreads that are not exchange supported, and the bid/ask is not tight enough to reasonably use Automation - I personally leg the spreads. I will always execute the most illiquid product first. I try to split the difference and won't risk getting cute; if, for example, I get hit on one bid...

Is Annual 15% Riskless Return Possible?

Arbitrage and the trade examples you describe are by no means "riskless" as was prescribed in the OP. I've personally seen arbitrage trades - even basis trades in the interest rates and commodities, get completely blown out due to squeezes.

    Double Butterfly spread

I just had a potential client interview at a prop firm in Chicago. He claimed that the principals interviewing him stated to him that most of the traders were spread traders - and much more complex and diverse than simply trading the roll or a calendar pair. And of course, there is an...

If you can't seem to find the exact spread combination you're looking for in Market Explorer or you platform's order book, please do not leg individual product spread components. You'll get f****d. Leg the exchange supported calendars and butterflies to come up with the condor or double...

    Double Butterfly spread

Do NOT leg individual spread component products - you'll get f****d. Better to use exchange supported calendars and butterflies to leg into things like condors and double butterflies and such. Your slippage and risk will be greatly reduced.

AMP not supporting exchange spread margin

Sounds like a Firm-specific Risk Control settings or policy issue. Maybe AMP can offer an explanation. I do know that some other Chicago FCMs that have a large spread trading clientele will adjust intraday margining for known spread traders. Generally speaking, the firms I speak of increase...
