One of the biggest improvements I found in my own personal trading was when I made a shift from looking at trades as discreet big events to a sequence of smaller trades using position sizing.
So I'd rather do a sequence of 10 50- share trades vs 1 500-share trade.

Key to trading breakouts is to anticipate that they usually fail, just above prior resistance... so wait til after false breakout pivots down, and enter above small bullish cup that then forms.
It took many years to learn that, the hard way.
I am finally trading uvxy correctly; example I sold the gap up today and bought the pivot later in the morning. I learned the hard way not to buy gaps up in inverses
I'm buying a few shares just for fun, and so I can remember buying Robinhood the day it IPO'd.
It may well sell off, so just a few shares. Literally :p

+ the entire trading education industry is largely a farce, populated by incapable posers/marketers who don't even trade much, if at all Blind leading the blind.
+ retail traders should look for PnL proof that their educator actually trades. That should...
