SBUX: Quarterly results no so pretty etc.

Well they finally fired their crappy CEO and hired Brian Niccol. If anybody can resurrect Starbucks its the Chipotle CEO.

Pump and Dump Shop takes a Dump

There's been a thread on it since Nov, 2023 started by @BMK. I don't know if it's a fraud but it's price action was always suspicious to me. It's amazing how many preferred share classes they have. $40 to $8 in 4 months is not a good look. It seems the delay in filing it's 10Q is unrelated to...

Economic Rents and the Enemy of Capitalism

I think the issue historically was that capitalism produced fewer & fewer winners and that concentrated wealth among very few who curried favor with politicians to create a plutocracy of sorts. Standard Oil, AT&T, TBTF global Banks & now big tech monopolies. Then there is the issue of feel good...

Should the POTUS interfere with FOMC's decision?

Most likely China is the next global leader with India being second. If there is going to be global trade there has to a currency to transact that is the reserve. It is probably the Yuan. The only unknown is that Asian nations historically don't like becoming debtor nations and to be the...

    Wildchild in on Boeing

Boeing is a crappy company. All management should have been fired after the MAX problems back in 2018. They simply don't take any of their problems seriously. They act like the TBTF banks in 2008. I wouldn't buy their stock but if the technicals are washed out I might buy some 6 month DOTM calls.

Serious competition in the airplane business

A very good explanation of the cycle of economies that go up & down. I mean these are 300+ year cycles & the US is at the tail end of it. It's hard to believe anyone would argue a country that has doubled its debt in 5 years isn't on its death bed. Boeing is a crappy company led by an even...

Sing it over the instrumental of Straight Outta Compton (1989).

    UVIX sell puts...a joyful moment

VIX > 30 should always be sold. Only the post-Lehman & Covid had sustained days above 30. The 2008-2009 GFC VIX>30 for almost 9 months but that event almost took down the global financial system so it can only be considered an anomaly. The 2020 Covid shutdown had the VIX>30 for 21 straight...

    Election 2024 Foreplay

Do the Democrats in this thread really believe Harris is a good candidate? I mean she was obliterated by 10+ candidates in the 2020 Primaries. I'm confused by the sudden support of her. Maybe its enough that she isn't a frail Biden & the Never Trumpers vote but that seems like a risky strategy.

    2024 Stock Picks

Hard to believe this is a real department in a company. She is the face of DEI. I remember back in 1990 at UC Berkeley Affirmative Action was suppose to help African-Americans but in reality it just helped White Women. That was especially true at the MBA level.

    Risk reward sucks for options

I believe they call this YOLOing. The amount of people on r/WSB who put a lot of their portfolio on 0TEs or weeklies is astounding. So many blow ups on r/WSB. I think for awhile after Bill Hwang lost billions he was their loss porn mascot.

Many users report Charles Schwab, Fidelity Investments and TD Ameritrade are down

My E-Trade (Morgan Stanley) account had no problems. My Interactive Brokers account had no problems. Schwab took almost 2 hours after the open to log in successfully so my conclusion is Schwab doesn't a fuck whether their backend systems work or not. Not even an apology that their systems were...

    Schwab Down

Amazing 40 minutes into the market and still no response from the POS Schwab. Here is there message in RED: Due to a technical issue, some clients may have difficulty logging in to Schwab platforms. Please accept our apologies as our teams work to resolve the issue as quickly as possible. For...

Yep. After 10 tries I still get: We're unable to authorize your access. Try again later. No surprise for this POS company.

Gotta love ZERO RISK in the SP500 = $$$

This meltdown seems to indicate that a lot of the rally was based on the Yen carry trade. Yet another liquidity driven rally. The same old story.

"EVERYONE clamoring for rate cuts at this time... BAD IDEA!

    Bitcoin Price Thread

So true. BTC -14%. No hedge at all but BTC always seem to behave as an illiquid stock. Its equivalent free float must be tiny. It's like the ARM stock which is still 90% owned by Softbank so it moves like crazy. Wow ETH -26% what a meltdown. Imagine losing a quarter of the value in a few hours...
