Gotta love ZERO RISK in the SP500 = $$$

Seems entirely possible today that we'll test -2% on a few indices. Could be a fascinating session don't you reckon? Anyone think we're going through??? Personally I think there are too many people ready for it. At the real top there will be silence... I'm not a bear by the way!

Did I buy from a tradebot?

Agreed, the original post seemed to me just to be borne out of simple curiosity. But no, let's not help him, let's just jump down his throat instead. What the hell is wrong with people?

    Spiritual Aspects of Trading

Hmm yes I have of course considered that possibility. What can I say? If I catch myself second-guessing too much I try to get back to basics. You're probably right though!!!!

    Spiritual Aspects of Trading

Maybe slightly off-topic, not sure. Context: Me = ibank market maker, roughly 6 years' trading experience. Please note I am very aware of the differences between market making and trading your own assets for a living. I have enjoyed reading this thread (for the record my views seem to...

A sense the housing market has bottomed.

I only really lurk on this forum, so maybe I'm not really qualified to comment, but I'm going to anyway. bgp stop being such a smug smarty pants, you're ruining one of the better US housing market discussions!!!

    bund bobl shatz ratios??

Usually people weight these contracts so that their position is neutral versus a 1 basis point move in the underlying yield of each cheapest-to-deliver underlying bond. Currently PV01 values are: Bund 860 Bobl 459 Schatz 181 So if you wanted to set up a PV01 (parallel yield shift...

    Multi-price Flipping. Rotter?

Hmm, are you sure it sucks liquidity out? Even if it does, don't you reckon the way to fix it is to bring in 1/2 cent increments, not constrain traders with regulation? Dunno, you might be right.. but regulators such as Bafin can be a bit trigger-happy.

    Multi-price Flipping. Rotter?

I heard a rumour that Eurex were referring some of the "flipping" practices to Bafin. I'm not sure whether that would include the recent activity, but if the rumour is true then it is possible that the traders responsible have been spooked a little. It would be a shame if they have indeed...

    Backwards Britain

Hmm, tough break kid. Sounds like you have been fairly unfortunate in that you have been made a few false promises. HR stands for Human Remains by the way. However, the spectrum of jobs you have been applying for in the financial sphere is so wide that I suspect interviewers might have had a...

    I want to play Warcraft...

You must have used auctioneer. no? There are a couple of US traders on the message board there who have squeezed various WoW commodities :D

    I want to play Warcraft...

What a quandary! I love World Of Warcraft but I sometimes wish I had never ordered it. It is fantastic for those lazy Sundays when I am hung over from Sat night... and if you are a trader you will love trading the auction house. However after a hard day's gaming I get that niggling feeling...

Where to for the dollar in 2007

Everyone is so bearish on the dollar, last year, the year before that, and now. It seems to me that the path of least resistance is higher for USD. Markets always move in the direction you secretly don't want them to (in order for everything to "make sense"). :)

A sense the housing market has bottomed.

I'm sure you are right when you say that prices have already fallen X% in so-and-so region, but it seems to me that in the US the housing market will correct in a fairly orderly fashion (and may even pause for a bit without much happening) unless the labour market slackens... perhaps via the...

    Inverted Yield Curve

Well we don't get CNBC in the UK. I realise that I am probably missing something, so please explain why things would be better for you lot if all else were unchanged and the yield curve spontaneously steepened 100bps 2s-30s.

    Inverted Yield Curve

Is it not a thing to be grateful for? If long rates were higher then wouldn't financing those deficits be rather more difficult? Apologies if I am missing something.
