Reverse engineering why indicators don't work

I personally know of a quantitative Hedge Fund in Silicon Valley that in part does precisely that - they mathematically quantify and model for price action trend characteristics. Safe to say that they are not the only ones. You have to keep in mind that each market participant has a their own...

New !! CME Fed Funds-Eurodollars Exchange Spread

Here is the link the recorded CME Webinar on the Eurodollar versus Fed Funds exchange traded futures spread. As far as esoteric interest rate topics go this wasn’t terribly long or boring. This is essentially a proxy for unsecured commercial debt (GE) versus unsecured bank debt (FF). This...

    The S&P topped at 2601

I can't help but to think that the corporate tax rate structural changes are factoring into this big time. Companies who stockpiled cash off-shore are going to benefit from this immensely. Smarty pants CEO's will repatriate $$$, buy back shares, and make bank on their stock options. Amen...

Reverse engineering why indicators don't work

When you realize that all technical indicators have weaknesses, then set to work to deconstruct the design limitations inherent in each particular technical indicator - you will be able to refine your TA approach. The next step is to dissect the time duration elements of said data sampling...

All kidding aside I appreciate your sheer tenacity. And at some point the market will indeed sell off. Personally, I have never had the talent for my opinion to be accurately reflected in the actual market. I would make a terrible market prognosticator. If I couldn't model time and sales...

Reverse engineering why indicators don't work

Themickey, I have no opinion if your post is right or wrong - but thanks so much for showing the courage for posting a sincere and tangible response. The idea is not to repress response through judgement statements but to encourage thoughtful dialogue and an exchange of ideas. Kudos. For...

Reverse engineering why indicators don't work

By all means please share your experience. So easy to make judgemental value statements - sharing meaningful content requires maturity. Please note in my post that I admit ignorance and beg for more color on the topic.

Well, if anything these many threads by the OP starting in February 2017 calling 'tops' without confirmatory price action illustrates what a fool's errand the idea is. Hopefully real capital wasn't involved. Higher highs, higher lows, shallow corrections - there is serious accumulation going on.

Reverse engineering why indicators don't work

Linear Regression is the most common type of statistical regression analyses, and from my experience regression analyses is the most workable approach to mathematically defining trend in historical trade data. Here are some other types of regression analyses: Simple regression Ordinary least...

Gotta love ZERO RISK in the SP500 = $$$

Relentless higher highs and higher lows. Very shallow corrections. Even at these nosebleed prices, institutional investors obviously are still seeing yield value above other investment vehicles. GS Market Research Department very bullish on 2018. Will the market reverse this ongoing trend...

Is it possible to make consistent profits from trading

From my experience, most aspiring traders have an unrealistic expectation or misplaced notion of what an actionable "edge" is to begin with.

Reverse engineering why indicators don't work

From my experience, most traders that I have worked with over the years use technical analysis incorrectly. One common mistake I see repeatedly is confirming one indicator with another indicator of the same type (for example, confirming an oscillator with another kind of oscillator). Another...

    Xela: More Likes than Posts!!

How did you manage to find your way out of the Community Lounge Forums ? :sneaky: No doubt that posting serious, trading related discussion on ET and the bloodsport of Washington DC politics are equally treacherous and downright uncivil.

Deliberate, personal attacks shouldn’t be tolerated, period. This has been an ongoing issue here on ET that suffocates informed, topical trade craft specific discussion.
